Just wondered what pipe everyone has used? i know its not exactly gonna have to be the most developed technology, looking around there are kits available but all i need is some pipe and maybe a ring with a lip so i can silicone into the air box and create a better seal

this is for the A3 btw...thinking 4" pipe?

ideas peeps

I used 4" ducting from ebay bud... like above only cheaper ;P

<tuffty/>

exactly what i wanted to know, cheers chaps :)

wasnt sure if i should look for solid piping to ensure maximum air flow inwards......but think if its thick enough (4") then it wont really benefit as it isnbt under pressure as such

i got a 62mm pipe going from the lower grille to air box

paid £12 for it from ebay

just bought some alu stuff off the bay last night, £4.50 for 3 metres haha....gonna have to do a proper hiding job for that :)

My old man bought a new tumble dryer and i pinched the ducting from that :icon_thumright:

i did the same on my corsa, the only thing i would say it watch thats its not to close to the engine as mine melted on a 2 hour drive as it was pretty close to the engine. they are only made from PVC

gooot ge caravan 4 mi maaaaaa

erm, thats the reason i went for the alu stuff, once fitted it will withstand heat better than pvc..... if not then i'll just buy the silicone stuff (wasnt my money either and was getting grief for spending yet more of hers haha)

cheers Steve..... its on its way so will check out this particular piece and order some silicone stuff if your right (which i imagine you are)

Chlippo, i got her to buy an A3 but its turned into a project for me, which she is paying for ;)

Any ideals how difficult it is to fit 4" ducting?? I had a quick look under the bonnet and it looks a PITA to do!!

Does anyone who has done this have any tips to make it any easier??

Fit a fmic, overwise you havent really got a chance, if you do manage it, itll be squashed and be pointless.

as Dani said Live....your passenger cooler is in the way...... the original post refers to my misus A3 which doesnt have a passenger SMIC fitted which means i can get a cold air feed in

Think I need to give it a whirl. Allways thought the 4" pipework would be too large to get through the gap without being squashed.

Thanks for clearing it up, when I looked I did think how the F*** am I going to fit a 4" ducting down to the grill.
