aint got a clue what is meant by all these sorts of lights people are using!
internally and externally!!!
i,e hid's xenons, rear light clusters ect!!
cupholder, ashtray, puddle lights ect!!

can as many people as possible post pictures of there lights, prefferably working,, and give a little description of what they are if not standard to the car!

Most are self explanatory
hid xenons are exactly that higher power low wattage dip lighting
rear light clusters are rear lights
cupholders there are illumination in some of the cupholder symbols as with coin holder
puddle lights are in the bottom of the door to light the floor up when the door is opened and to see any puddles you may have parked in

i meant the different designs on offer,, i know there are different rear clusters available,, i know thee are different sorts of headlights,, but i aint actually seen them
and yes,,they are self explanitory,, as you say,, but i still aint seen em,, i know exactly what each one is for,, but i would like to take a look at a few before i choose some myself!

This is my take on it all (purely my opinions and experiences):

HIDs - pretty essential upgrade. I recommend 4300k as per oem, with led sidelights to match. Much talk on what kits to buy, my HID's came from the far east and cost £40 and have never given any problems in over 3 years (save a new ballast needed, so ideal opportunity to go slimline). Mine are neatly mounted near the bulkhead, I think mounting them nearer the front can affect abs sensors etc sometimes? A very neat install with the ballasts under the light unit oem style can be done too. I can suggest some leds which have worked for me if required.

Front fogs - you can HID if you require, a set of £20 Nightbreakers was plenty good enough for me.

Rear lights - leds can be fitted as per recent thread - minimal gains imo unless you go for all out led clusters (look chavvy?)

Rear number plate lights - led upgrade looks good, nice crisp white light.

Ambient lights - red interior glow looks very nice, fronts are dead easy, and rears pretty straightforward too.

Interior lights - led upgrade options, not necessary for me as I find the existing lights fine.

Door marker lights - fitted to some, other have reflectors. Not sure how simple these are to fit, but look good.

Puddle lights - easy fit if you've got the marker lights to feed off, on my 'to do' list.

Footwell lights - need VAGcom to install properly, but can be fed off various light feeds depending on what you require. On my 'to do' list are white lights to work with the interior lights, but 1wheel has but red bulbs in which work with the vehicle lights as 'ambient' type lights which I imagine look very good too.

Errr thats all off the top of my head, do a search on specifics for pics and installation tips. On a personal note I find it very hard to capture lighting upgrades with my limited camera skills.

Yeh but I've only done easy stuff such as bulb replacements, ambient led's and HID's. I'm lucky in that I've got marker lights already, and have a (slowly) ongoing project thread to do puddle and footwell lights somewhere. I just need to get the lights (£8 ish each) and take the door cards off (which I'm dreading lol).....

not bothered about those 2 mods to be honest mate,, thinking of the hid conversion and the led jobs too,, but like i say,, im probably saying i dont want em without seeing em,, thats precisley why i started the thread,, your explinations bang on mate,, but without pics of the mods,, i wont know what they LOOK like!!

ps,, these hid kits ,, there are different ratings,, is tis just the intensity of the light,, or is it like a rating for a certain vehicle or summat,, soory,, not too clued up on car mechanics,, but im shizzle hot at the plumbing game!!!

Nor me really, but HID's come in 'k' rating (kelvin?) - I'm sure there's a wiki on it. 4300k is the factory spec for xenon lights, the higher the k the bluer the light, but the less bright the effective useable light is. I have 6000k which are fine, but if I was doing it again I'd go for 4300k so they're not quite as blue, but are 'brighter'. I think you can get up to 12000k - but I don't know why you would.......

You can get 35 or 55w - I've got 35's and I'm not too sure what the benefit of 55's are.

Its worth getting the slimline ballasts as they're easier to hide, and make sure you get H7 for the A4 bulbs.

I'm not recommending these, but something like THIS will do you, and there's a diagram to show you the intensity rating's.

I retrofitted door marker, door puddle, front and rear footwell, led interior handle, and OEM wing mirror puddle lights. Lots of wiring, but well worth it. Quite easy really, just a positive and a negative to each one, but getting the feed from the conveinience module was a bitch. But still worth it. Having the wing mirror puddle lights come on when you unlock the car is so smart

Mate the door cards are an absolute doddle to remove and all the loom wires that are on the card for the switches etc just plug with one plug into the door control unit ,
door card removal 10 minutes tops .

There not OEM on a B6, I think there actually of a C6. They do require some slight modification to the wing mirror mount to fit, just grinding out a 1cm divet. The wiring is annoying though, trying to feed the wire through with a metal coat hanger, takes ages.

I got mine secondhand, but you can order them from Audi. Think there about 60 pounds in total for the parts. I can get you the part numbers if you like?

Ok, looking up the parts for the 'Surround Lighting' as its known. On the A6, you can buy a complete new mounting for around £150 each, or do as I did and grind out about a 1cm divet in the underside of the mount to accomodate the LED.

Heres the part numbers anyway and I'll let you decide on which way to do it.

Bezel Left - 4F085852301C ~ £6.50
Bezel Right - 4F085852401C ~ £6.50
LED Left - 4F0949133 ~ £30.00
LED Right - 4F0949134 ~ £30.00

If you want the part numbers for the complete mounting let me know. I don't know about the wiring but you can just custom that up yourself. It is a great little mod this, and very cheap.
