Finished my shift at work this morning and was called into the office (thought I was in the doo doo for something) to be told I was being made permanent as of next Monday, totally gobsmacked as there were 25 vacancies spread between 400 agency staff and a few thousand outside applicants, most of the other full timers were there 2 or 3 years before being taken on and Ive only been there for a few months so didnt really rate my chances and wasnt getting my hopes up too much as its quite hard company to get into, its slowly sunk in the last hour cant stop grinning, pretty chuffed to bits.

Its taken me nearly two years to find something permanent since I got laid off and Ive been surviving on just been bits of agency work, trudging through job websites on the net and going down the dole office is pretty soul destroying but if anyone on here is currently in the same boat I was chin up and just hang in there because hopefully when you least expect it and from out of nowhere something will pop up for you like it did for me. :)

That's ace dude!!! What is it that you do?

And congrats again. I was in a similar situation after graduating last summer, there just seemed to be nothing out there.

Well i have a full time job, company car, and i hate it. applied yesterday for 2 job's, 1 internal just a different role and one totally different job but in the same industry, which is the one i would rather get, but it's only a 6 month contract.
I am also looking into going to work for one of my customers, which is also completely different to what i do now, but would be a great job to get.

Congrats on the job front

Nice one! Congratulations! I just graduated yesterday and so I've got a tough journey ahead of me!

Good work my son, those 2 weeks off internet and youporn has paid off!

The mods pay me to make you look half funny :):):)

Thanks for the kind words guys, the job in question is working for Caterpillar on the diggers and construction side of things...

Nice work.

I remember back to when I was getting into my current job and I was doing agency work and boy does it suck balls. its nice to have a bit of job security :)

Well done dude, glad you got something sorted in these difficult times.

Oi! and Girls lol

God bless hawt wimmin on car forums.... :)

Well done dude, glad you got something sorted in these difficult times.

Yeah, Caterpillar laid off maybe a couple of thousand agency and permanent people from this site in 2008 and 2009 but things seem to be picking up at the moment, they cant seem to build the machines fast enough to get them out the door. The hard times make you appreciate the good times.

Know what you mean mate, my uncle works for Land Rover and a while ago, they cut hours and all sorts, but now all of a sudden, they cant make enough of them, a couple of weeks ago, they ran clean out of alloy wheels!!!

congrats m8, i hear ya on the soul distroying part, i was layed off and could not get another job because i broke my back and was to much of a "liability" to any company i applied for.

now i got a pucker job doing what i love best and got a part time Auto elec job as well!! things happen for a reason i think, life is one big test!

Once again dude, well done hope you enjoy your time at what ever your doing!

Glad to hear it mate, things are not going well at my place right now.

I work nights 22-06 and they are reducing the night shift! and changing all the shifts round.

So either way im taking a pay cut but will also end up working 4am starts!
