I'm bored at work, so i thought i'd update people on here of my activity over the last month or so

As some of you know NH'guru'N has been doing some major work on my car, and a top job he's done too! As always!! Bi xenons fitted, auto levelling system, auto lights, auto wipers, auto dimming rear and side view mirrors, folding mirror, washer jet system just to name a few things!!!

Picked the car up from his on Tuesday 29th June, all was groovy apart from 0 fuel. So i stuck some in, and was on my merry way

Car shuddered to a halt on a busy A road at around 10.30pm, luckily it wasn't busy at this time, and i was only about 5 miles or so from NHN's house. So he kindly came out to help, and we were trying all sorts of thing on the roadside to get her going again until about 1am. The car kept turning over, but didn't want to start

Finally, we admitted defeat and decided to get some rest, pushing the car off the road behind a big hedge. I decided to stay with the car, and NHN went home for some well earned rest

7am, he came back and we tried to start her up, and she was starting to kick in despite the battery going flat. So we stuck the jumpers on, and vrooom! She started up 1st time.....very odd

So we did some testing for a few hours, and all was well....

Made the 30miles journey home no problem, and drove the car around to several appointments for work during the day.

On the way home from work, she cut out again at a busy roundabout :motz: people were not pleased, but luckily 2 guys helped me push her aside to a bus stop where the AA came out to have a look.

All the fuel lines were working, and the electrics were fine with air going through the pipes as well. He said he couldn't figure it out and towed me home

NHN was over at the weekend to have another play, and we're 99% sure it the injector on cylinder no.4! If you disconnect it, she fires up on 3 cylinders, but as soon as injector 4 is plugged back in, it just turns over with no start up. So i shelled out a few hundred for a new injector, and she's getting towed to the local garage this evening to have that injector replaced :yahoo: hopefully this will fix the problem

When we were tinkering with it on Sunday, the fuel that came out of the lines was black. So i can only assume that some crap got dragged through the system and blocked that injector? I dunno

Hopefully tomorrow i will have her back in full working condition, after nearly 3 weeks of being off the road :(

I'll keep you updated :)

Sounds like you've had some major expence :( hope the injector sorts it for you.

Question though whats involved in getting the auto wipers and auto lights working? Do you need to replace the screen?

Cheers
Chris

Ye i hope so too, put so much money into it with NHN putting all his time and effort into it, i don't just want her sitting in the car park :(

Ye you have to get a new screen as the auto sensor on the rear view mirror has a different bracket to normal

good luck. as we say in cyprus - perastika

The sensor assembly itself is also pre-fitted to the screen, or at least it was when I had to have my windscreen replaced by Autoglass - the new screen has the sensor already on the glass and he just attached the mirror assembly to it.

The windscreen i had to get had a different bracket/fixing for the new mirror

The sensor is not attached to the glass, as it's a little round rubber thing that costs about £150 from Audi

Be cool if you could write a how to and costs involved.

Finger crossed for you Smudge. Let me know if it gests sorted and maybe we can go for a spin to celebrate lol!

I'd leave you behind with your granny driving

Getting something else fitted tomorrow as well, but that's a suprise ;)

Thanks for sharing your experiences Jord, I really do hope you sort it out, Nigel is a top top top chap, and has helped me endlessly over the last 2 years, half the mods wouldn't exist without him and Matt.

I'd be nowhere without Nige tbh

Car is in the garage now, having injector, fuel filter and MOT done

Ooooh, and a little suprise that i will reveal later ;)

Apparently that is a common issue with the VAG PD Injector system.

My mate has had to deal with a few at the garage where he works.

If it doesn't get the correct feed back from an injector the car won't start.

Paul

Big shinny exhaust?

Granny driving indeed. Imagine my shock when the police said I was speeding :faint:

Ye it's a strange one

If the faulty injector is connected, the car wont start at all, just turns over

With it disconnected, she fires up on 3 cylinders

Hope its sorted Jords.

Just called em and they're finishing things off tomorrow morning, as i had them do some other work for me ;)

All sounds gravy though

Congrats on things looking better!! Fingers crossed!

So the suspence is killing me. What you getting. Big brake discs?

Wouldn't a desent fuel injector cleaner help at all?

Hey sarah - is that you in your sig piccy? get a bigger pic up

You will have forgotten about all your woes once it is up and running again, as it will be time to enjoy your new mods !

Sounds an impressive amount of work there.

NHN :respekt:

All will become clear tomorrow my friend ;)

Aw hope all gets sorted! About time you had some better luck! (Aw! 3 iccle cylinders!...bless)

Oi!!! None of that

I was thinking about sticking a fuel additive through the system just to clean the pipes out a bit

Can't wait to get her on the road and get noticed as i drive by people :)

I have all the time in the world for NHN, apart from when i'm whipped into action by the mrs :( she thinks me and Nige are getting married

FIXED!!!!! :yahoo:

Fuel injector done, fuel filter done, MOT done :)

I'm a happy bunny

Picking her up later tonight, and i'll get some pics of the new suprise ;)

Congrats!

Time to race auto folding mirrors then!!!

lol - Not sure which one is slower on mine. Think its drivers too so you're on! I also have wind deflectors that interfer so I reckon I have an advantage here. I bet you 1 injector I win :)

I'll give you a "who can't get up Pii's driveway challenge"

I'll easily win

Sounds dodgy :scared2:

 you dirty minded person!

Why would the size if wheels make a difference? If anything, the 19's give me more ground clearance

I'm talking about coz i'm so low to the ground!!!

19's would lead on to lowering (remember I am copying you!!)

lol - madman!

Not i'm going to chicken out and go 18s. I've just decided in past 2 minutes!

But you never know what I might be thinking in a couple hours time

My respect for you will diminish if you go for 18's!!!!

When i got towed the other day to the garage by the AA man, he went the way with all the bumps :sadlike:

Crunch, scrape, grind

Made me weep a little :(

Hey Jord, glad the cars all sorted!!!! Happy times!!!!

So yours is slowly catching mine up!!! lol....... cough cough!

Respect? You have no respect for me! Luckily I'm not seeking your approval lol. Speed bumps all the way to and from work would kill me I think. The old bones aren't as solid as it used to be.

Tell you what, let me drive part journey in your car once its all sweet so I can see how bad the ride is. How is that?

Im cringing just thinking about yours being hacked by the bumps :scared2:
