Ok, I've managed to get a genuine set of older style S3 alloys which I am going to get professionally refurbished. Not my first choice of alloy but will be on the car until I can save for the ones I really want.

Now the question!!! What colour?? Do I keep them silver or go darker??? Your opinions and thoughts welcome..

(My car is Mauritius Blue and will soon have the S3 conversion including the Optics grill so there is a darker theme starting to happen. But also going to be adding the Alu mirrors!)

I'd say if you're going to fit S3 mirrors, then leave them silver, maybe a slightly darker shade.

Black / anthractite etc can look great on a blue car, but I'd be tempted to paint your mirrors to match if you do that. I wasn't a fan of the S3 mirrors on mine when I had the black wheels.

Now look what i've started lol!

Imho, I would go dark and leave the silver caps off. But then we would be twins lol!

I'll go with Pete on this one. Stay silver to match with the mirror caps :)

Keep em nice and bling n shiny, hyper silver?

Just sold a set of these, how much did you if you dont mind me asking?

Cheers
Paul

Yup, You have started something lol

haa haa if I do take mine to AITP, they could be twins lol!

Yeh, I love the silver touches but I also like the stealth!!! dont give females choices lol!!!!!

But what is the best for re-sale next year? Is it best to stay silver, thinking OEM S3 rims in mint condition would recoup £££'s, but a darker set may not? mmmhh...

Good point watty. As you are looking to resell them soonish, it would probably be even better to stay oem or close to it.
but then, they may sell well in dark colour guise.

Fack, i'm really indecisive tonight lol!

Terrible bad news putting silver S3 wheels on a Mauritiuse blue 3.2 S ....I tried it and instantly crashed. S3 wheels just dont go round quick enough for the 3.2 . The car simply goes too fast for the wheels and then you just have to ram a Honda CR-V in order to stop !!

Seriously though..they will look great and i would go with bright bling silver...in fact i did ..lol

^wise words youll have to follow through with the mirrors, however if you decide against the mirrors what about the finish i just got my facelifts in?

Did I miss something. You spent all that money fixing it, then killed it!?!

Paddy, I still cant believe whats happened mate, really feel for you. And so soon after those gorgeous alloys!!!!! MAybe the alloys went too quick for the car!!!. And why oh why no airbag??? suprised at you there! I will have to sort you out!

Seriously, really hope you are feeling better and let me know about the car status! x

Dont worry Phil, I'm still swaying silver inc mirrors.

What colour did you do the facelifts???? Not seen that pic!!!!

 scottie you should know by know we are always beating each other to replies im begining to feel easier about the finish as ive got R8 centres on order in black (another OEM+ mod :))

I would keep them silver as personally I don't think black wheels look good on a dark blue car its just a bit too dark you need something to offset the colour.

R8 centres in black? My ears have just pricked up as they sound  Would look good on your wheels Phil.

well i figured they help tie back to the black on the car, i never wanted to go black everything but thats the way the parts are working out

edit: cant belive you missed these sarah tisk tisk

Nope I mis read your original post! Must have been a blonde moment!!! I thought you meant your facelift mirrors.... I know, I know!!!

No I DID see the alloys and loved the colour! OMG! more decisions now.... SCOTTIE!!!!!! more decisions lol

I sooooooooo nealry went for a metallic crackle finish today on my wheels, but I chickened it:crying:

do what i did with my fiesta st wheels i got a very light anthracite colour it looked like silver with metalic grey mixed through it

ooo errr missus!....ohhhhhhhhhh sorry...you meant my wheels!

Na you can have them old things...i wont be needing them :whistle2:

Ah Ha!!!!! so they are being changed lol!!!! You not getting those tractor wheels from the local farmer are you!!! Or is it caterpillar tracks for this years show!!!!

i think considering you want new style RS6s you're better off going OEM so you can shift them easy when the time comes. not everyone will necessarily want the same colour as you?

Sarah, go anthracite and either match the mirrors or go dark with them. I have tried to run with the "black edition" theme on my S3 with the optics and so I matched the mirrors. Alu mirrors only if you leave the rims silver. My alu's stuck out a mile, so had to be swapped out.

Scottie, can you point me in the direction of more pics of your car?

Sarah, you may have seen this pic of mine floating about on here or VAGOC, but to give you an idea...

Cheers Rico! Wow not seen the pics of your car but ooohhh loving it! Now thats real food for thought!!!!! thank you

Leave it silver so you can sell them. They'll also match the alu mirrors I think.

This is just a temporary measure.. Think RS6... RS6 is the ultimate goal!!

Rico's car does indeed look slick!!

Yeh Phil, I know its the ultimate goal but you know how plans dont always work out lol....

Maybe I should have just got RS6 reps.....no I did right I think!

Ricos car is gorgeous but is that 'cos his wheels are BBS?? They suit the darker colours, not seen these S3s in anthracite, not that I can remember anyway.

ive seen them in gloss black, looks ***** and makes em look like reps, a big dont do so go with a grey silver or just silver

Ultimate goal yes.

Sell some blood to fund em!

Heck just go reps lol
