Di noc advice

Just ordered some di noc for my b pillar trims, the little triangle bits on the rear windows and i'm gonna try and do the door mirror baseplates but i think the latter will be too curvy.
Any advice on the application and is it flexible enough to go round tightish curves? Carbon baseplates with white mirrors will look good me thinks

Done my B-posts and rear window triangles with it. Love the stuff. Mirrors CAN be done but its not that easy.

If your like me and couldnt cope with even the tinyiest of wrinkles dont do them! The outside is easy, its when you fold it inside (the bit you see around the mirror glass) I wanted to do mine in one piece so no joins, if you can live with a join or two then go for it!

Hairdryer or fan heater worked well, with heat the stuff turns to the consistancy of silk and stretches real easy.

Practice on flat bits first.

speak to dan over on vagoc.co.uk he works wonders with the stuff, if its a heavily curved thing youd need to use primer and a heatgun

dont get me wrong, its great stuff and very forgiving ......i am a DI-NOC whore now!....phone cases, sunglasses case, MR2 front splitter, gear surrounds, number plate surrounds.....and anything else that isnt nailed down...lol

Mate of mine even suggested I do the UPVC window frames on my house!...lol........sod white or brown...Carbon FTW!!!

Haha carbon house windows, theres an idea!
I'm quite a perfectionist so i dont want any joins, creases or bubbles. I'll try the two flat bits before attempting the base plates. Got a 60cmx30cm sheet, that should do it. Is it like laying vinyl?

Never laid vinyl but she sounds nice....lol.....joking aside its a breeze mate...you'll be fine, just make sure your working area is clean and take your time.

Done my interior trims, not too bad to do at all. Just make sure the surface is clean and warm the vinyl to make it pliable.

Liking that alot, looks like the trim my dad had in his B5 RS4.
I think i'm gonna get carried away if my experiment goes to plan, i wonder if it can be lacqured???????????? Anyone know? Think i'll try it on a leftover piece

Did my B pillar trims today and plan to clear laquer them later this week.

How do they come off, removed the black plastic trim on the bottom of them then the 2 scews. Are there clips on the top?

Pull the rubber seal back about 4" from the top to the side of the pillar trim and there are 2 more T25 torx screws (one on each side). Only takes a moment to whip them off, just be carefull you don't damage the rubber removing them or putting them back.

My next mission is those pesky rear triangle bits but there supposed to be awkward to get out

Done! Cheers for that, saved me snapping it trying to pull it off! I'm gonna get the triangle door bits off later so i'll post up some tips if there are any.

By the way, ordered some AP coilovers this week, got them brand new for £298 all in. Massive result as i'm doing this revamp on a budget...all good!

If your going to laquer it, try it on a test piece.

I've heard from someone (cant mind who) that if you laquer it, you lose the carbon effect, presumably due to the light being reflected differently or something.

Be interested to see the outcome either way though.

Good price, that's a 100quid less than I paid using a mate in the trade. They/re a pretty acceptable coilover to be fair and the spring rates aren't as high as they often are as the spring is not quite a conventional coilover spring

My dad knows the bloke who owns venom motorsport so got a good deal, real pleased. Look forward to having them fitted in the week and maybe getting back on the road for next weekend...ish!!
