Ok where do i start...... i have a 2000 Audi S3 i have owned it for 4 weeks. the car was due a service, a straight forward oil and filter n the obvious checks. I thought id take it to the "experts." So its near the end of the day im expecting a call from Audi Stockport telling me my cars ready.... Well i got a call but to tell me they had crashed it into a post!!!!! WTF

They assured me everything was in place and i would have no disruption of my regular week. so i wasnt happy but felt they had everything sorted... when picking up the courtesy car i was shocked they had a 2010 Audi A5 S-Line for me only 700 miles on the clock wow now i had forgot all about the crash. So i busted about in my new car luvin it

now the bad bits.... after the oil n filter change i checked my oil, it was only 3/4 full, my window wouldnt go up and there was a strange clicking from the crash point... i informed the dealer and he told me not to worry all will be fixed to "Audi Standard"

two weeks later i was called back 2days later than they said with no update calls like they promised telling me they want the car back. i told them i cant till weekend due to work commitments! there responce was" its costing us lots of money we'll give you one more day insurance n thats it! Not Happy

After being rushed back to collect the car i arrived to see my car with a new bumper n light, on closer inspection i found the following

1. overspray all over the car
2. A paint run ( from when fixing the bubble on the roof rails)
3. side repeater hanging out
4. window not fixed
5. clicking noise still there
6. bumper trim not fitted properly
7. light still pushed back abit
8. trim under light reused even thought its scratched and chipped

all this and i was told it had been quality checked bahahahaha yeh right

So i spent my day at stockport audi arguing after 4.5 hours they finally gave in by giving me a litre of oil for what i had to finish the oil service with and all the problems fixed the following wednesday. now were starting to get some where.....

Upon starting the car i noticed a rattle i believed this was the vibration of the plastic engine cover 2 days later the noise is alot louder so i phone audi. they send a technician to check it out n drive back for fixing. i got told the car would be 24hrs...

the next day the various problems had been fixed but it had still now been to the body shop and i was now being told they cant hear a noise from the back and the engine noise is a tensioner/ oil pressure regulator this costs ruff fiqure £550 to fix! they believed thery had done nothing wrong and were not willing to fix it....

i rang around various audi garages and they all said if there wasnt enough oil and the car was took to hight revs it could put ware on the part..
i also checked my service history and both tensioner's had been replaced 20,000 miles ago, these are meant to last 70-80,000 but to make sure i rang the garage it was done at and they confirmed the work had been carried out..

audi now have my var and what was 24hrs is now 7 days they will have my car and they wernt gonna sort me a courtesy car until i lost my tempar with them....

DO I HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON PLEASE HELP GUYS............. sorry about the waffle but this has been my first audi customer service experience is this a one off or....

sorry for got to add the orange bits on my dipstick were missing after going to audi! and the part they have diagnosed is the camshaft tensioner is this related to the oil and could it be damaged from lack of oil??

That is really bad mate just keep argueing the matter to your happy with the car if it never had these problems when it went in then there to blame
I had the same sort of problem with a ford they took the car for some paint work was only surpose to be to days turned out being two weeks when finally got the car back the was a loud knocking from the front of the suspension took it back to them they said everything was as it should be had it checked by an as man some one at ford bent the suspension leg the reason they had the car so long some one crashed it at ford and they tryed to repair without me knowing after days or argueing with them gave me a new car same colour same reg and it had lower miles

wow well id be even more annoyed if they didnt tell me! u had a good result though :D my service report only reported they had found a few worn bushes NO clicking No engine troubles... thanks for the reply my next step is my local paper cos the customer service has been a joke they told me today to directly deal with the bodyshop myself for a car as they were busy

wow, thats bad luck. The cam chain tensioner is operated by oil pressure so if your low on oil then it could/would damage it. Although, if you were only 1/4 empty i wouldn't have though that would cause any harm, but then i am not really quallified to comment, just speculative. It sounds like they're giving you a hard time, and they were out of order asking for their courtesy car back!!

well other audi dealers have commented that its possible to cause wear.... ive not heard anything like it until it was worked on at audi! could the orange bits of plastic from the dipstick, blocked summit!!! i just dont understand why all this stuff has deceided to brake whilst they had it

Also do audi flush there engines during an oil change?? has the sender got blocked from sludge cos they havent flushed it properly

i just dunno what to think!! ive now got over £1000 worth of parts n labour needed on my car... couldnt of happened at a worse time :((

maybe bits of the broken dipstick guide dropped into the sump and blocked the oil pick up? dont know really. Maybe you should write to Audi UK, it might make you dealer a bit more helpful

I would suggest taking the matter up with AUDI UK I'm sure they can bring pressure to bear on the dealer, this level of service is wholly unacceptable. The other advice I would strongly suggest is that you write a detailed letter to the dealers general manager setting out in clear concise terms the individual issues with the car and that you are not happy with the level of service and detailing how you require them to rectify things to your standards of acceptability. Trading standards may well be worth a call if the dealers do not respond in a timely manner. Good luck and keep us posted.

you dont want to go to the papers go to wotch dog they love storys like this also wright to car mags like what car and v dub mags you could also claim against them for stress and threaten court action with headed letter paper it dont even need to be from a real solicitor just the threat of it on what looks like a real nitice of action might put the wind up them but do not take it away from there care or you will not have a leg to stand on if you go to another garage

Got to love this, it's costing them a lot of money, maybe they shouldn't have crashed it in the forst place. Did you get a receipt for the repairs undertaken?

I would personally take it up with Audi UK, and threaten some kind of action to expose the dealership to watchdog or local newspaper and see if that kicks them into action!

I'd be livid if it was my car they hit a pole and had to repair, especially when it was a straight car when you handed the keys over.

audi arn't the specialists mate, far from it there just another garage

yeah they want me to pay for the diff control unit dont know a price, and the cam tensioner £550+ ive left the car with them... the car was bought using money i got from when i was atacked it got me out the house again, ive been crying for 4 weeks cos of all this had to take time off work and my car has got all these things wrong from just goin in for an oil change i just thought my sad face in the local paper would make em pull there finger out! watchdog sounds like a good idea thanks. My aunties a lawyer so might try threaten a little legal action cost them more in solicitors fees than the part n labour so chance they will just pay thanks guys feel abit better now :D

sorry to hear that mate, thats unreal, but they CRASHED YOUR CAR, you definatly have a leg to stand on, i would do as Sportquattro and fuma, said, dont back down till its sorted out to your standards, good luck mate,

Are you sure its the cam tensioner? have you got a fault code? or any eml light on the dash?

Sorry to hear this bud. As already said, have a word with trading standards, and maybe go to your local citizens advice beareau and see what they say.

first mistake was taking a 10 year old car to a dealer. like anyone there will know where to start with it. probably why they cant put it back together, its an antique in their eyes

U ha e sent a letter to the dealer manager and to the regional franchise manager. I have also opened up a case with audi customer service team!... If the tensioner was due I wouldn't put up such a fight but it was done only 20,000 ago!!!

Yes it's the tensioner there technician has confirmed, but no light they might av found a code I don't know... I've been kept in the dark, surely if it was faulty it would of been on my service report

Good luck mate, hope you nail 'em to the walls. I love my motor but I can't stand messing around with the Audi UK dealer network.

Stand your ground and get the B45T4RD5 to return it to the condition you gave it to them in. Get Trading Standards on the case and check whether you have legal cover on your home insurance policy. If so threaten legal action over it. Why the hell should you have to put up with that?

Oh, and NEVER go to a main dealer again! Independent specialists all the way!
