Just interested to know how much you guys have paid for a four wheel laser alignment, and roughly where in the coutry it was done.

Thanks.

PS: Also any recommendations in London welcomed. :icon_thumright:

recently used goodwin in ilford (essex - but IG1 so next to east london), they use a hunter system (apparently the best for four wheel drive) very good service, although i had to wait a while... due to them being so busy! got reccomended there by three different people and other garages...
cost £90 i think... took about half hour...

Thanks. Ilford is only about 5 mins from me down the North Circ. I'll give them a call.
Apparently A&S Tyres in South Woodford are pretty good too.

Ranges from 35-50 over here!

Up to 5 mins ago I would've thought you were lying. But just come off the phone to A&S and they quote anywhere between £45 and £125!! Depending on the amount of adjustment needed. They use the Hunter system also.
Said they'll carry out a free check first and then quote.

£35, Belfast! Took them a lot longer than half hour!

£90 though :O Crazy money for wheel allignment!

i need to move there then!! nah its just typical london prices... it was the only place local to me who had a hunter.. i was desperate to get it done that day as i was going on a long journey..... ill know for next time!! :keule:

Most of the job is done for irish huh thats why so cheap, its already out when you go in, they just turn it out further, piece of **** huh :undwech:

£25 at my local in Surrey but i did buy a couple of tyres as well.

Were they Irish aswell then pmsl

Spanish i think......
They just fitted my new wheels and balanced them for £20 all in and that includes storing my old ones for as long as i want !

£65.
Oop Norf.
Mine was done by a man with a whippet in a flat cap, smoking a rolly.
Maybe it was Cheryl Coles Granda?
Waye aye man bonny laird n that...

Storing them on someone else's car lol.

i paid about £65 at AMD essex a couple of months ago. Was good service.

I normally get mine done at elite direct. If you are 5 mins from ilford you will be about 15 mins from elite. They charge about £60 and takes 45mins-1hr. Great service.

£60 down in Wales land, they do a good job and give you a nice shiney print out wotsit too.

They do a lot of lowered jap cars from some of the syline forums and the like

What, from driving round in circles?? :lmfao:
It's bad, but not that bad.

On the plus side..... at least I don't waste energy when doing U-turns. I just let go of the steering wheel and the car does the rest.

Was just chatting to a guy at work and he told me an unbelievably hillarious story....

His Dad, who lives in Morocco, had problems with his tracking and took it to a garage to have it sorted. He said that the "mechanic" jumped in the driver's seat and told his Dad to get in the passenger seat, and off they went on a test drive.
After driving for a few minutes the mechanic prised off the steering centre cover, took a spanner from his pocket and started loosening the steering wheel and adjusting it WHILE HE WAS STILL DRIVING!!! :lmfao:

Central VW/Audi in Brum quoted me £39.95.

they saw me coming then, i was desperate! hopefully they done a good job im a bit worried now... car will be going to AMD essex in September so ill get all done again...

I don't think you got done mate. Been reading that the rule of thumb for four wheel alignment cost is...... its costs roughly the same as buying one new tyre for your car.
So £90 sounds there abouts to me.

Well the cost of a tyre can vary a huge amount. I think he was taken to the cleaners at £90 !! that puts his tyre place on about £300 per hour..lol

I guess they mean the average cost of an average tyre....... so about £90iiissshhhh..... maybe??? Dunno.

Is £90 really THAT bad for tracking?? Especially if a lot of adjusting is required?

4 wheel align is more money than fwd tracking.
And of course the guys who use the modern Hunter equipment etc. charge accordingly.

Paul

PS - Part worn NANGKANGs with 3mm tread can be had for a fiver oop norf BTW.

Just found out a lot of people are getting their allignment done for as little as £15 over here lol

ye & have you seen them drive over there, no wonder pmsl

Thats cause they regard the public roads as a track, lmfao

TBH mate the worst are the italians, they're just fecking nuts, absolutely mental mofo's

Right.... got my alignment done, for free luckily.

It was done on a Hunter system, but not totally sure I understand it.

Here is the printout:

tracking2.jpg

I take it the green results are ok and the red results are bad??
Just on top of each result there are two other numbers (smaller font). I guess these are the values that the result should be between??
There are a couple of grey sections too (front caster) with no result in it. Don't know what going on there.

So... any experts here can give me their thoughts on my results??
Should I be asking the guy who did it why some of the results are flagged as red??

Also, I noticed that at the top it says "Standard Suspension". Mine is a Sport so 15mm lower than standard.
Would there be an option of Sport or S-line for the tracker to choose?? Or would "standard" just cover all factory suspension??

Loads of questions, I know!

£32 plus £8 for front and £8 for read if needed to be done.
Computerised system and not the laser 4 wheel alignment.
Nottingham, off J26 about 15 minutes drive.

Got my alignment re-done and this time it was done PROPERLY!
Cost £60 and took all of 10 minutes.

The printout I now have has a whole different set of results now with no red measurements at all.
And a word of advice to anyone getting their's done.... "Standard suspension UA0" is not going to correctly align your wheels if you have a Sport or S-line model.

£15 from champion tyres in leeds.bargain.amazingly cheap tyres too!

Not in a million years will that be for four wheel alignment. It will be toe correction on front two wheel, at best. Tyre places rarely have the correct system required for proper 4 wheel alignment. It's usually bodyshops\repair agents that have them as well as dealers.

Proper four wheel alignment needs to be done on most cars, but imperative on Quattro's. The thrust angle as well as all the other stuff needs to be aligned properly. This is not done with basic alignment that local garages offer. Audi charge £200, so I suspect if you are paying less than £90 it is likely you havn't had the proper thing done done.

Don't agree with this.

I had the proper thing done for £60 as mentioned. Laser/computerised four wheel alignment, on the Hunter System. http://www.hunter.com/alignment/index.cfm

Adjusted the lot.... including thrust angle.

Guy talked me through the initial results and explained what they meant, made the necessary adjustments, then talked me through the final correct results.

Sixty notes.

to be honest ive no idea.i was there today and i saw the laser machine and other cars having allignments done so i thought i'd ask for a price.

Well that is a bargain indeed, especially if it included the adjustments.

I'm gonna ring around some places myself then and see if I can find something similar around here.
