I must admit I was a little stunned but the bloke I normally deal with wasn't there at the time and I can usually get a decent deal off him so I will be returning at some point next week when I go to pick up my head from the engine builder just round the corner from GSF and see if I can get it down a bit ;P

Get it down a bit, i thought i did well with TTS letting me have an OEM one for £280 after i pointed out that eurocar parts sell the LUK one for less

How much would a manifold cost? I know it would be top mount... I know the lad JBS use but... private jobs take forever.

You taking the S3 to Inters? If so are you getting on the 1/4 mile or will you still be on the poorly clutch?

Hi bud... I will be there Saturday but I doubt I will have the clutch done in time.... I did buy the DM flywheel and std clutch today though as it was too much of a barg not too... I am waiting on a price for the Sachs plate but unlikely that will be sorted in time let alone find the time to fit the clutch sadly

Will be mad for it next year though as the old girl will be proper finished (as far as the major mods go) :thumbsup:

Think you will find thats what Bill quoted you bud... the one in the earlier pic is external gate (£975) and he has a mani the same design but without the outlet for the TIAL (£925)

Much the same story here where the 1/4 mile is concerned at shows this year.. next year should be a different story :eyebrows:

Very interested to see the outcome once you've got your clutch bolted together.

lol... I really doubt it tbh... I really need to save some money rather than keep spending lol... I have other stuff that needs doing like a bit of paintwork, refurb of the wheels etc plus would actually just like to enjoy the car as it is... I must admit though I am like this with all my 'hobbies' be it airsoft, photography or cars... the number of airsoft guns I bought and sold before I found the ones I actually couldn't part with (even had an Aliens Pulse Rifle replica!!) is very long indeed... I am happy with the format of the install on the car so not looking to go top mount which rules out a GT35 as its just too big a comp housing to go underslung on a quattro... I have been looking at a GT3076r and external gate to head towards the mid 400's comfortably but will see if this will be a worth while upgrade before embarking on that.. at the very least I will look to go external gate.

Still need to do the head, charge pipe and I will bee looking at changing the the inlet manifold to something like a SEM, other than that I will look at little tweaks of the existing stuff...

Ok... I have the head back now and I will look fit the valves and springs at some point over the next week....

What I am going to do though is finally fit my stereo gear as I want it in for Audi's in the Park....

I have the door panel off yesterday to size up the front speaker fitting and I think I have a bit of work there so I will start with the sub for now.

Here is a pic of the kit thats going in...

Thanks, I have another 4 channel amp and a 5 way electronic crossover so I could go fully active if I wanted to but I cannot be bothered with fitting it all so going passive this time on the front. Its not as big a system as I have had in the past but I have grown out of that a bit now and this is what I have left from those days :)

can you tell us the speakers sizes for front and rear?
lol i was just going to post in the ICE section since i want to change all my speakers, install a 4 channel amp, and maybe get the sub replaced.
So i need speakers sizes so i can shop for two pairs :D
also about the sub setup,,,will it go in place of the factory one? I am after a sub that just replace the factory one...i dont want a box in my trunk

The kit going into the car is an Andy Mac Stealth Sub box with a JL Audi 6" sub (have a search he is an ASN member and sells on ebay too), Kenwood KAC823 bridged at 150w RMS for powering the sub, Kenwood KAC745 4 x 50w RMS powering front and rear speakers... Speakers are 13cm Focal Access components for the front with Autoleads adaptors (that need further adapting... more on that later) and Focal Access 165 16.5cm coaxial with Autoleads adaptors for the rear.

Sub fits in the factory position (hence Stealth Sub).. I am just processing the pics I took tonight and will chuck them up shortly...

Using the comprehensive instructions supply with the Andy Mac Stealth Sub I started taking the interior apart ready to fit the sub and the rest of the kit...

Took the front kick panel off from the passenger footwell followed by the sill trim (just the interior one). Then carefully removed the rear side panel... the instructions are clear but you still have to be wary of what you are doing to prevent damaging the panel and its fixings.

There is a big lump of polystyrene behind the rear panel which will be removed so I can get the amp in there..

You can see in the pic below the some what pitiful 'Bose' rear speaker fitted to the rear panel (I have a full Bose system)...

...and here removed in comparison to the Focal I am replacing it with...

...although that too is not without its problems... fitted to the Autoleads adaptor its seems there is a little bit of a gap, I will sort this later with some trimming of the posts and sealant...

On to the sub fitting... I then removed the boot trim where the Bose sub hides... (again, clear instructions from Andy)

...once removed you can see the tupperware (Andy's words) sub in its entirity... clear instructions again on how to remove it and the mods needed to be done prior to fitting the sub box in...

Nice choice on speakers Paul ive just picked up some focal 130vrs for the front of mine started modding the double din adaptor last night just want yo rivet the cage is as its not help in to well at the mo

Oh well, it looks like i will be watching how you get on with the front fitting !
Might upgrade the speakers but dont fancy ripping the amp out unless its that which is dying.

Not sure aftermarket speakers will work with the Bose amp mate... fairly sure the Bose speakers are 2ohm rated and not 4ohm like 'normal' speakers...

I seem to recall someone saying the drivers are std Bose ones that they fit in some of the PA stuff they do (may have just been the sub ones) so you may be able to find these on ebay... try ebay.de too as they have a lot of this stuff too...

focal will give great sound. I've got a set of focal utopia's that i haven't got round to fitting yet! must do that soon!
 
hmm whats those doo-dars above your sub? mine didnt have those when I fitted my AMSS, also where have you fitted your amp? best thing Iv fitted to my S3 I think. Probably not your best mod though...

Pretty sure they are something to do with the FM aerial amps... if not then I don't know...

Amp for the sub will be going behind the passenger side rear panel, 4 channel for the other speakers in the opposite side...

Cruise control is the best mod I have fitted ;P

Fronts are 8L0 035 411 and rears are 8D0 035 412

I think the limit is 59mm inc adaptors... I haven't offered mine up yet but I have a feeling I may be doing a little work to get these to fit...

Managed to get a little more done tonight but with dodging the showers and getting the car clear of stuff so I can driver her to work tomorrow I didn't get as much done as I would have liked...

Removed the drivers side rear panel..

I bought a couple of Dynamat packs that come with a couple of (quite frankly) small pieces in each designed to sure up a pair of speakers... I didn't want to go silly with the stuff (mainly because its ****** expensive stuff and heavy) just stiffen the immediate area around the speakers...

The mat was fairly warm from being in the car all day but I used a heat gun to warm the panel and heat the mat after placement to smooth it into the contours...

...then used a hot glue gun to stick the original sound deadening back down where I have pulled it out the way and where it had detached itself over the years...

Just need to get some silicon sealant to use on the adaptors and change the spade connections on the OEM speaker looms and thats job done... should be noted that the Focal 165's I am using have an angled tweeter that rotates... I have angled this to point up and slightly back as the speakers are positioned in front of the rear passengers...

Wiring tomorrow if the showers hold off then I can mount the amps and make brackets if need be to support them and its pretty much done...

This install is going quite nicely really, much easier than some of the ones I have done in the past where I have done door builds for speakers and built amp racks and sub boxes...

Once I have finished this install then I will have a go at my other mode of transport :)

Tuffty do you have a pic on how your car sits on the apex springs? i've looked through the thread and cant see one :-( considering these myself do you rate the ride quality of these? or do you reccon I should just bite the bullet and get the h&rs?
 
Im grabbing a 75mm off an RS4 b5 (seems to be the way to go)

Ride is noticeably stiffer in comparison to OEM and the Eibach Pros I had previously but not coil over harsh... I would say about right :)

Fronts crash only if I happen to hit one of the really ****** dips or potholes littered about Gloucestershire roads at the moment but other wise smooth as silk IMO...

I would have gone H&R if the price hadn't leaped up when I was looking to buy...

Due to my other job as taxi to my kids I didn't get much done today really... managed to remove the connects2 iPod controller for my old Sony HU I fitted when I first got the car... I left it in there when I change the HU over to the Alpine...

Then set about removing even more trim (the glove box this time) to start running cables...

Started with the sub amp RCA lead, amp remote wire and passenger side front speaker cables..

...run the cables down the side cable tying to the original loom...

...and ran the passenger side front and rear + 4 channel amp remote wire across where the rear seat goes...
