Black Edition

Jeez, we've been hit big time by the BE balls up! I was just looking at the list, and I hate the way it looks as a hatchback... but there is the option of a 123d M Sport also there now. Tempting. Might phone BMW up and ask how long the lead time would be. I know a colleague of mine got his BMW around 6 weeks after ordering!!

I've all been look at other cars. I been offer a new Golf GTI and was told i can spec it how i want and they told me that i will have it in September, tempting but the deal is no where near as good as i got with my BE. As long as they keep to there word and give me a loan from from September i'm quite happy. Think of it this way you will be driving around in a free car till your BE is ready. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I don't know weather call Audi customer service and ask why they can't give me a loan car now, instead of making me wait until September.

As for the BMW 123d M Sport its i very nice car, but with the optionals extra's it quite expensive i think.

Hi all im new 2 the forum and have been browsing for the past couple of week!

I don't see why they can't do a loan car now providing the original delivery date was now and it is their fault that it will be late. With the loan car have they told you what you are getting?

Nope, I asked the dealer this and hy should me a e-mail about this off Audi. Basically Audi don't see it as there fault until September. I really don't know how they manned work that out.

Original delvery date was end of June then went to July then September and now comfired at end of Nov.

Dealer said its very likey to be an A4.

Further info on my BE odyssey...

Manchester Audi are holding their hands up and saying that Audi in Germany have cocked up big time and are now pushing BE orders well into next year delivery-date wise. There have been a catalogue of errors that have led to the A3 BE, among other models, being pushed back so far.

To compound the fact on BE models they are now having trouble sourcing the new wheels they have stated come with it! So in the first instance they kill the RS alloys that people loved and then can't source the new 'rotor' style like they had planned.

All in all this, along with the fact that apparently Audi manufacturing haven't placed orders in any type of 'first come, first served' manner means after ordering in February the latest delivery date for my car is mid-December!! Production week I have been given is Week 47, 22nd November. So not best pleased. Like others I have been advised that Audi have organised the 'Audi Mobility' program for those people affected by long delayed production and delivery dates. I have been put forward for this but don't know what it means in regards to when I could see a hire car from them or what stipulations for it's use will be in place. I will update once I know more.

I have been told that my production date could still come forward and it has been noted with manufacturing that mine is an urgent order, but to be honest I doubt this will make any difference whatsoever!

As said previously - if this wasn't a company car and the company car list still had other cars I want as much or more then I would throw the towel in and be done with Audi. Looks like I'm in for the long haul!

It would appear as though everyone has or is going to be hit by this very soon. I got an email today from the lease company, through which company cars are ordered, stating that due to part shortages and high demand, especially for the BE, my order will be delayed.

So, having been initially told early August (having ordered in March), I have now been told mid-October. (RB84, admittedly not as bad as the delay you have been told). The delays are ridiculous.

My current car is due to run out of road tax in September. I spoke to the lease company today to see if I could get any more specifics out of Audi, as I have never been told a definitive build week, which would at least provide some comfort in it not being delayed any further than October. I also asked about a replacement car so I can sell mine, as planned, for early August. I have already advertised it! The lease company said nothing could be done, so I requested further contact details for Audi. I am waiting to hear back from the lease company about this.

Enough ranting.....Who will I need to speak to about having a hire car provided for me? I think I have a valid reason, considering the balls up and the date I was initially provided. How would dealing with Audi directly be affected by ordering the car through the company scheme? Any information would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I ordered my S3 BE back in March, originally expected early August. Checked with dealer today and apparently it is showing as build week 27 and week 26 cars are now awaiting shipping. Either I am lucky and it will be built in the next week or perhaps I'll get bad news in the next few days.

Personally I would argue then that you should get a loan car sooner. You can appreciate there may be a little delay but going from June to end of November is a bit much. I would say that giving them until end of July to get a car for you is more than reasonable.
Like you said the one thing is there is a free car for a few months, but on the other hand it is not likely to have any of the options you have specced.

Well checked with my dealer again today also, mine is still down for mid september but has not been confirmed so that means nothing still, i told him what i knew and he had not heard anything yet about the bigger delay over and above the existing one month delay.

What he has said is that there will a hire car for sure in Sept regardless, compensation for the delay and when the next R8 is delivered its mine for a few days. i honestly cant find it in me to be angry anymore. based alone on the fact of a free car till mine is delivered = a saving of £500 per month + compensation! but an R8 too oh lordy lordy, i will post pictures of cause lol. Get bartering boys this is a golded opportunity..

Hi Petoz,

The company scheme should make little to no difference. It is still an order that Audi has to fulfil and they will be doing that through one dealership and that dealership will have someone overlooking the orders. The guy I'm dealing with at Manchester Audi is called Steve Fulthorpe and is the 'Corporate Account Executive' - not sure if that will help you get in touch with the right person. Your company car scheme should also have people in it that can help find the right contact at the specific dealer your car is being ordered through.

The hire car and the work that needs to go into getting it should be dealt with the person identified as dealing with your order. Steve is working through it for me, so you should have someone that can put you down for it and keep you updated. Manchester Audi have been marginally better at keeping me updated than Slough Audi were, but they're still not great and need chasing. I can imagine there are plenty of people affected by this across all dealerships, so he who shouts loudest and all that!!

Good luck and keep us updated with how you get along :)

I'm surprised at this. They must know about the sourcing problems for the BE as it looks like it is a central manufacturing problem vs. a specific location problem at the different dealerships. I would ask him to get in touch with Manchester Audi and ask the question about further problems with the BE if you have worries. Manchester will gladly pass on the information I have been told, and no doubt a little more truth internally too!

It could be that you're one of the 'lucky' orders that has got onto the system faster than others. As I was told the orders weren't put back in in any order so even though mine was originally placed in mid-Feb it will be behind orders placed in the past couple of months.

I'd love to know if the R8 story is true! If so that will be fantastic, but with so many people involved in this mess I can't see how they can do that for one and not others. Especially in this day with information & knowledge swapping so easily online (just like this). Good luck with it!

Well my current car is going today. My audi dealership is having it, as this work out better for me saves me quite bit of money until i get the hire car in September. So will be asking them if they got anymore infor about the delays.

My current car as gone now.

My Dealer did some checks today, and it still down for week 45 (10th Nov). As far for the hire car goes, a car will be ready for me on the 2nd September.

I hope the company scheme makes now difference. I will get back on the phone to them tomorrow and try to find out who I need to speak to at Audi. I think it has been ordered through Leeds Audi.

Even more reason to try and get a temporary car from Audi is the fact i've just realised my insurance runs out in September. So that would mean i'd have to fork out for a years insurance to insure myself for a month because of the delay. Not impressed. I just hope I get through to someone I can help. Will keep the thread posted.

Dont forget that you are dealing with the Lease company here first of all and it is there problem not yours. they have promised you a date and they have to honour that or compensate you. The dealers dont really count in your case. Check your contract paperwork and see what there responsibility is to you before doing there work for them.

Thanks. I thought about dealing with the lease company, but my worry is that they won't do it properly. I feel i'd have more luck contacting audi myself than leaving it to the lease company. I'll have a read of the paperwork at work tomorrow and see if there is anything obvious I can throw at them. I just want something sorted, either by the lease company or audi.

All people who have been approved a hire car from Audi will have to insure it them self. The dealer showed me the e-mail from Audi uk. Its at the bottom in big bold letters, so if you get a hire car from them you will still have insure it yourself.

The 'compensation' just gets better and better! What they'll probably do is give you a hire car coming up to it's first service and ask you to pay for that as well! :nyah:

I'm not about to tell you the opposite to Richy but all I know is that I'm dealing with Audi myself and is the only way I have found out the information I have. All I have had from the lease company (in my case GE) is updates of projected delivery date with no reasoning or further information. Speaking to my Audi contact I know these delivery date updates are automatically sent once he has updated GE with the latest information.

In essence the lease company should do it for you. The company is paying for that service. But I need more control over things than waiting in the dark hoping to be updated, that's just who I am... haha

Hi Guys

Just come back from the dealer after ordering my new car, taken me a few weeks to decide on the spec/colour etc. but I'm finally happy with it and therefore placed my order this afternoon. The only difficult bit now is waiting until early December, thats going to be hell!

Anyways, the important stuff:

1.8T (160BHP) Black Edition
3DR
Ibis White
Technology Pack
Interior Light Pack
Heated Front Seats
Tyre Pressure Monitor
Folding Mirrors
Deletion of Model & Engine Capacity

Cannot wait now but I sure will miss my first A3 when the time comes, its been an unbelievable car!

Totally agree and i would still talk to the dealer but you can then just attack the lease company with informed knowledge and its a double up that way.

Really! thats different from what my dealer has told me, although he was just going to give me a car that they had spare for a while till mine turned up (when it was going to be just a few week wait till september). Good to know though i will have to try and wriggle out of that then. makes sense though that they wouldn't if you think about it though.

Yeah had to be done, it's cold down here in Wales during the winter haha I hope so, December is a looooooong time to wait for a new car though!

I waited 6 months for my Golf Edition 30, i nearly peed when i saw it coming down the road on a low loader. Imagine how good you'll feel when you collect it!

I think your dealer is just going give you one of there own cars, as like you said its only for few weeks since your car due in September, so no need for your dealer go through with Audi uk's hire car sheme if they can afford do it that way.

Hi - first post so sorry if this has been answered already but I couldnt find it on the search! :)

Ive been looking at getting the Black Edition for a new company car and ordering in the next week or so, im between the diesel 140 and 170 but I cannot seem to find an anwser as to why the co2 is so much higher on the BE compared to the S-Line or Sport - which are both exactly the same 2.0D140 engine? I was under the impression the BE was just styling compared to the S-Line, but what else am I missing?

The Sport and S-Line both come in at co2 of 115 but the BE of the same engine is 134? Anyone know the reason why?

i though that all 140ps 2.0 tdi where the same and £30.00 road fund!
in the back of my owners manual there shown as the same, quattro is slightly higher i think!!

philip

Cheers Philip! Weirdly - the Audi website has the Diesel 140 manual at 115 and the 170 at 123, completely different to their brochures...

hi Flyte

correction £35.00 road fund on 140 ps 2.0 tdi - emissions co2 is 115 manual 6 speed
the 140 ps auto co2 is 129 s tronic 6 speed £120.00 road fund.

170 ps manual co2 is 139 @£120.00 road tax and auto co2 is 149 @125.00 road tax

regards
Philip

I would much rather deal with Audi myself too. At least then I have control over what is being said, what questions are asked, and can explain my own situation and how the delay could put me quite out of pocket.

I spoke to the lease company yesterday, and was told that audi do not compensate for factory delays. I was also told that they do not pass on Audi contact details?! Anyway, I informed them of the insurance running out and the cost that will incur etc. The guy at the lease company I spoke with was good, but I still worry that it wont be followed up adequately. I am sure I can shout louder for myself than the lease company can. So, having spoken to lease company, it will be followed up with the manager, the sales team and Audi and I'll see what I hear back.

I am not holding out much hope, so will look up Leeds Audi contact details myself and find the person dealing with my order. Situation has been made slightly worse in that I have had some interest in my current. It is hard to turn down an offer for the asking price, but I may have to do so if I don't get a positive response from the lease company next week.

The saga continues......

Any further luck with this?

The lease company I am dealing with through work have been good at times and very poor at others. Seems very dependant on who you get to speak to. The latest thing I have been asking about is lead times for new BMW 1 series and the Golf GTD - last time they just gave me the details of their favoured Audi dealership to talk to myself, this time they wanted to do everything centrally. Oh and the answers on lead times if I ordered now is delivery in September for the 1 series and December for the GTD.

Good luck with your fact finding mission! It's gone very quiet from Audi on my side...

Heard from my contact today to ask if I had heard from Audi about the mobility program they're running for people affected by long delays. Funnily enough I hadn't and consider him the only 'Audi' I should have to deal with!
Obviously the internal communication is going great...

He confirmed that I am eligible for the hire car and he will be in touch soon when he finds out more regarding when I can get it.

I had also looked into cancelling the order in case I wanted to take a 123d or GTD. He confirmed that if I cancelled they wouldn't charge a fee due to the circumstances.

No joy yet. If I don't hear anything back by tomorrow afternoon, I'll give the lease company another call. I've got the impression that it could massively depend on who I speak to. Hopefully I have left it with someone who will actually chase it for me. If not i'll have to get on to audi and ask about the mobility program. Is it an official audi program? Specifically for the A3 delays? Hopefully I should be eligible.

I was also considering a 1 series through the car scheme. I like the coupe a lot. However, it would be an extra £70 per month for a more basic spec m-sport model compared to the BE. No competition really. That is why cancelling is not an option for me.

Anyway, I'll continue to keep the thread up to date with any progress.

Hey,

This is my first post here.

I test drove an Audi A3 Black Edition 2.0T with S Tronic yesterday and absolutely fell in love with it! So much so I saving up the deposit and getting one ASAP!

What options are a must and which should I not bother with?

At the moment I'm going to order:

2.0T
S Tronic
Quattro
Cruise Control
Reverse Sensors
The TT style alloys
iPod Connectivity

I have noticed a few people saying the Ipod thing is pants? Anyone confirm this? and what to get instead?

How is the Bose? and just to check, it is standard on Black Editions yeh?

Does anyone have a picture of the brake lights on the car? I want LED tail lights but so far im convinced that only the sportback has this?

What is the 2.0T like to insure? I'm 19 and realise it will be expensive, I got a quote for £1,350 for the 1.8T, will the 2.0T be a chunk more? or just a little?

Thanks for any replies!
