Thanks Julian and very much appreciated. Now I have some hard evidence/proof I am going to get this sorted with this local Dealership. Id prefer to pay your price lol but hey I want it sorted now.
thanks again

Sarah

S
I wrote to Audi GB and told them the story...
The local dealer rang me next day and booked me in and it was sorted FOC..

If you need an incentive..I just did 400miles..

!00miles motorway surrey to Ipswich .... 32mpg ave
65 miles A road Ipswich to Cromer including Norwich ring road on a Friday rush hour...37mpg ave
170 miles cromer to surrey A11 M11 M25 31.5 ave....cruise control set at 90mph

total journey 33.2mpg ave

Usually that would have been 28mpg, 29 at a push.

Those are great figures paddy. As said before i had the update done and the fueling improved for me by about 4-5mpg which is worth the £68 for the update. Now that Audi UK have stepped in maybe the dealers will pay more attention and not give us so much grief.

Thanks PAddy, think I have given my local Audi enough time now. Going to email Audi Uk and see if they can help.

I emailed Audi UK aswell today. I reckon the more of us that raise it the better.

Well finally got a call from my local Dealership, lol what a bunch of monkeys! Their stance is my car isnt due ANY updates and my chassis number is showing nothing regarding all the information I gave them from here. He certainly didnt like me knowing more than him lol. He kept harping on about it needing a diagnostic first then and only then if it shows anything they may consider!
Email sent to Audi Uk now as enough is enough! Thanks to everyone who has given me info to use, really appreciate it.
Will keep you updated.

i'm sure they will help. They were very good to me.....

It's like the dealers need more factory assistance.......

Update-----

Well after some appalling treatment from my local Dealership (I wont go into) Audi UK (who were furious about it) are now making sure my car gets the update tomorrow!!!!!!

Will let you know how it goes!

(But a HUGE thankyou to you lot to have helped me in lots of ways x)

Congratulations! Great News, let me know how you get on. Mine is booked in Portsmouth for Fri as my local dealers were being @rseholes about the update.

Fingers crossed the update is available for my car and I get mine sorted tomorrow

OMG!!! well after all the problems I had last time, this time the dealership couldnt do enough for me lol

Well WOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOO its fixed and I love it!!!! Only had a short drive home and didnt really get to 2k rev much (behind a cop car all the way!) but so far so good. Looking forward to the long drive to Inters to really test it out. But I can say it holds 2k revs in neutral with no problems.

The update I had could have been a little different. Audi UK liaised with their Petrol Engine Specialist (ace guys!) and used an update
Transaction No.: 2010154/3
Release date: 12-Dec-2009
Lambda sensor with entry - A3 + TT 3.2 VR6

Now im not sure if this is exactly the same, im assuming it is, but mine wasn't done via CD, unless they now have it online (maybe with so many being done....who knows) I didnt get much out of the dealership as tbh, they didnt understand any of it.

I will get back to Audi UK after my trip to Inters and ask for exact details on what update they used.

But again, many many thanks to you lot, without you and your help my little fella wouldnt be sorted. This just shows what a fantastic forum this really is but is nothing without many of its members so xxxxxxxxxx

(guess you can tell im a happy bunny lol, huge Cheshire grin on me at the moment lol)

And a huge thanks to Audi UK, I am really impressed with them totally.

Your little fella...???!!

Glad you got sorted! Mine wasn't done by disc but over their intranet.

huh...wouldnt wanna park next to yours anyway...that hezzy bug might be contagious! :moa:

Just a quick update, went down to Portsmouth Audi on Friday and I must say I was very happy with the service received.

They knew that I was coming and when I got there was booked in swiftly and also knew that I was dealing with Craig so the keys went straight to him!! Sat down with a cuppa after having a butchers around the showroom and 45mins later the car was back complete with update and test drive.

The hesitation wasn't too apparent on mine before it went in but I have to say that it has made holding the revs at 2k easier, also seems a lot smoother in normal driving and power delivery and seems to have a little deeper / throatier exhaust note.

Will keep you updated on the fuel comspumtion but think there was an increase of 2MPG on the return trip.

All for approx £50+VAT!

Congratulation on getting your car sorted Sarah, a little bit of persistance can go a long way, I couldn't be bothered with dealing with the monkeys at my local dealers so travelled further afield but still very happy

Right People. Sorry to reignite this thread but I've got mine booked in next week and will hopefully be getting the engine
code this week from a specialist with vagcom. No doubt audi will want to do their diagnostics but hopefully i'll be able
to get a print out and take all of your info/ammo with me.

However my car is a 53 plate 2004 model. I know engine codes are what matters but does that look promising so far?
The year of production I mean? There was so much to read I got confused.... Not hard.

Well done to all that contributed to this though. My local Audi garage are oblivious to the problem
but hopefully I can educate them a bit :p

It's the ECU code that you need to match, as long as that's Ok and the dealer plays ball then you should be good to go.
Only known of 1 car so far that didn't have the correct ECU and that was an 05 manual that for some reason had an oddball ECU in.

Local Dealerships dont know anything as their updates only last on their records for cars around 4 years or so, after that the updates dont show! So Audi UK told me. Audi UK do know about it, very much so now lol

Take your info/ammo in and you will get it sorted. Just be pleasant but firm. You could always ask them to speak to Dealerships that you know from this thread that have already carried out the update.

Hope it goes well. I had mine done and hes ace now!

Has anyone had success in reclaiming any of the cost of the update from Audi UK? I wrote to them and received a detailed response which basically saying that what I regard as a fix for a problem, they reagrd as an enhancement and will not be contributing...can post full reply if people are interested.

I know a few people got the update FOC, but they went through Audi Uk before having it done.
I'd just be glad that Audi made an update in the first place tbh, best £58 I ever spent! Now if the dealer overcharged you for the 1/2 hr labour then that's another story altogether.

I was one of the lucky ones and got my update for free. Mainly due to the treatment I received from my local Dealership tbh. I have alot of respect for Audi UK, far far different from the dealerships.

The fact is S that Audi GB appoint the franchises to represent them in the market. It is theirer resonsability to make sure those franchise provide customer suport and saying that a cure for a cronic misfire is an "enhancement" is treating the customer with contempt.
It amazeses me that anyone ever buys a second Audi having been treated like **** the first time.

I agree P but in the end Audi UK did admit into looking into releasing this update. Its a start. Dealerships are crap, we all know that, only an odd few are actually good. I was told with my issues over my local dealership they would look into it as the treatment I received was appaling, sure enough they certainly did in a big way..result as far as im concerned!

Update for those who can't find a service centre that can help.

I took my 05 DSG Sportback into Russell Automotive Centre http://www.rac-london.co.uk. They are in Kingsbury, near Wembley, which is a little bit of a trek for me from deepest South London but worthwhile. They are an independent VAG specialist with all of the necessary VAG diagnostic and on-line electronic equipment. Their initial check showed that my BMJ with DSG engine had "up-to-date" firmware, according to Audi UK. Nevertheless, they got hold of the CD mentioned up-thread (No: 4FO 906,961 N) and were able to update the firmware for my ECU.

If your ECU is not showing any error codes but you ask them to update the firmware, it will be at your request and not their advice. Not unreasonably, any risks will have to be borne by you. Speak to Chas, the Service Manager.

Hey people. Just read the ECU's that can be updated but couldn't work out if mine is good.
The garage gave me 3 numbers:
ME7.11 5604
022106032CB
0000178 SOFT CODE.

I've seen on the previous page that CB is ok for update but do the numbers need to match??

Cheers.

Just noticed that the engine code starts BDB. That is mentioned. Woop!

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I think I may be having the hesitation issue on my 3.2dsg - I live in north Manchester so where would the best place be for me to get the ecu updated?
Thanks

Edited to add that car is a 55 plate

The best place is the dealer lol! you just need to convince them that you need it.
Print the details out and try your local dealership first, if no joy a quick call to Audi UK does seem to help.
Well worth the effort though!
Best of luck
