Just been on to the dealer, ordered the car for 1st September to get the new 60 plate, but have been told it will be with them mid-late July!:jump:

They tempted me to take it early, but its worth the wait I think to get the 60 plate?

They said they will have to store it there (In their SMALL yard) until Sept!! That will be painful, driving past the dealers on a regular basis and knowing my car is sat there! - Also hope they look after it!

Can`t you just take it home and NOT drive it till 1st September? :) Would they allow that? Or arrange a different garage?

Well, it was just a guess

I wonder if they will??? Good point, I would PROMISE not to drive it till then! - Mmm, I think not.

Hehe, just try to ask them to store the car in a bigger/better/safer garage!

Just get the car and drive it like you stole it!!!

Its there and i'm sure you've been itching to get it so enjoy it! Well thats what i would do you neva know what happens tomorrow!

5-6 weeks max wait is worth it due to the increase in resale value if you ask me!

Also you get to ponce about on Sept 1st with your new plate!

Yes I will be waiting for it, its not worth it for a wee but longer, and wont get to show off the 60 plate as there is a private plate going straight on it! Oh well.

Just booked it into Awesome GTI for the day on the 1st Sept, so pick up at 8.30 from Audi, and in Awesome by 9am! Result.

Garage door openers fitted to the front and rear, along with a POGO alert camera detector on the 2nd:busted_cop:, and REVO on the 3rd, then off playing round Abersoch in Wales, should have some fun round the Bala twisty roads - And like you say BOSSS3 - Drive it like you stole it haha:yahoo:

if your changing the plate i dont see why your waiting to register it at all. thats totally pointless in my mind.

Richy

There will be about £600-1000 difference on book value between a 10 plate and a 60 plate on resale, just thinking long term really!

So L33TAY i take it you finally managed get a Build date from them.

Well yeah thats kinda my point, circa 4% of the value of the car, i know id rather have the car now personally. Can respect your fiscal sense though.

I wholly support waiting for many sensible reasons - happened to me once and I waited. You'll keep it for longer if you wait, it'll hold it's value as a 60 plate than a July 10 (which is a pointless 10 unless it's a March/April 10) and it will be fine as I suspect they'd keep the wax on it until it's ready and 'film' it with that thick plastic sheeting.

Yeah Diamond, was a bit shocked, but obviously in a good way, was half expecting them to say it would be after 1st Sept, so can get it booked in now for the bits, then get off on my hols.

Yeah, I know, I'd rather have it earlier Richy, but would regret it I think, I've waited nearly 2+ years for one since had to sell my brand new 08 after a month, so a bit longer wont do me any harm!:icon_thumright:

Hope so Maestro, I'll be giving it a good once over prior to driving away.

Had the same happen to me today! the dealer called with a build date a few weeks ago of 12th july, called today saying it will be built 5th July so should be ready for delivery last week of July......

Tbh i don't think i can wait the extra 5 weeks!! i quite fancy taking a few days away in it in the hopefully nice weather and school hols..

Decisions decisions...

Think you'll regret it mojo, I was tempted for a bit today, but thinking on its worth the extra wait me thinks!

Not def decided yet but my thoughts are that like someone allready said you don't know what is around the corner!!

Hey Lee, was feeling quite jealous when I read this as I ordered mine a few days before you from Stockport and not heard anything. Rang when I read this thread and mine should be the same delivery date! :yahoo:

Can't be bothered waiting myself. If it was arriving mid August I'd wait a couple of weeks but couldn't manage 5 weeks driving the pile of junk I am in now knowing a brand new S3 is sitting there gathering dust.

If you leave it at the dealership will they want their money sooner?

Ordered mine in early May, told it would be mid September, got a call today to say it will be ready end of June !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told that the factory has opened up another assembly line for the S3, and my order appeared to jump to the top of the queue for the new line. Does that sound plausible, or do you think I've got a cancelled order with exactly the same spec ?

Also a bit concerned that it might be a MY10 rather than a MY11.

Need to call back and clarify.

Surely 10 weeks early is a bit of a record ??

Yaks.

1/ If you took it now, would you get a decent discount on top of agreed price.
2/ Put a private plate on it?
3/ Do you plan to keep it a long time? if so the difference in resale price will be a lot less of a difference.

If you do not take it will it end up in a showroom with people pawing all over it, or worse still going out on test drive?

Hi Mate

Nice one, was going to email you to ask if you had spoken to Ian at the dealers, glad yours is there at the same time, just check if mine is OK when you pick yours up??:icon_thumright:

No, I will not be paying them till the day before I pick it up, just in case there is anything wrong with it. Will be checking the mileage too when it arrives, and if there is 1 more mile on it in September when I collect, I will not be accepting it!

Let me know when you are going in, might meet you there and have a look at mine at the same time?

Cheers

Ordered mine 2 weeks ago and the wait is already killing me!! AHHH! :banghead: Hopefully mine arives early as well but being in S.A i doubt it...been told mid September to beginning October for delivery... things to do while i wait hmmmmm.....

leetay,
have you asked them that it's definitely a MY11?

if you're willing to wait for another 9-10 weeks, then why not let audi sell this one (to someone that doesn't want to wait) and give you some incentive like discount or extras? they could still arrange to build another one now and it would arrive before september!

Maybe an advisory to ask them to cover it for the prelonged period as parking in these yards isnt always ideal & building work can offload shed loads of dust as I found out 1 nice brickdust day.

Also corner areas in dealers parking get sweet FA attention mate, make sure you do a very close inspection of paintwork for swirls etc mate as this has been an issue for new cars tbh with audi, dont sign handover until its been properly inspected & obviously check mileage incase its been taken for a few spins without knowledge even if not registered, you really never know.

Yes it is definately a MY11.

I could do, but knowing my luck, there will be a long waiting list again then, and I'll NEVER get one lol!!

Yeah, good point NHN, I will be having the discussion with them when it arrives on HOW they are going to store it, and yes, will be going over it with a microscope when I come to collect.

This must be the one of the hardest choices ever!

Mine was to be delivered originally in mid August which i didn't mind really as i am off to the nurburgring as normal in august so may have been its maiden run out (possible death also) but now its back in september.

If it turned up early i just would have no clue what to do, its the first car of my own in along time and excited is not the word!

Someone made a very good point of if they will not want there money for it early even though you have not claimed it, like most company's there all about the turn over so thats a good sum to push back to the next month. sure they wont do that though.

Best of luck on your choice though mate, either way is a good choice in my mind, just think of the money you will save not running it for a month lol.

It's amazing how this country get so hung up on the numbers on a number plate but I guess while the likes of Glasses guide still list different prices for the different reg year numbers it will always be this way. The car will be a MY2011 car registered in 2010 when ever you pick it up...

The difference in resale value will be marginal and more down to mileage, service history and condition I would of thought. If I were you I would have it now rather than wait as I wouldn't want a car that I knew I was buying left in a compound for 5 weeks especially if you putting a plate on it anyway.

As a side question, doesn't the Revo Stage 1 invalidate your warranty?

Audicruiser, it will make about 4% difference in price from a 10 plate to a 60, and that £600-£1000 will come in handy when re-sellling, for the sake of a few weeks. I can see your point though.

The dealers cannot tell if it is remapped, unless they take it out of course, and then they will think '**** Me, this is QUICK' haha

They can tell if the mapping has be changed. Well i know you can with a vauxhall diag tool so i would assume you can with a VAG one.
