Hey,im thinking of refurbing some RS6 alloys and not to sure what colour to go for really??..

Either keep them the same or go for something like a gunmetal grey or something along them lines. What do people think would suit my A3 the best please?...

Any chance of someone photoshopping the wheels to please ;)

ewww not white mate, far to bright i think!..yeah does look good as they are but just after something a bit different maybe.

As Tim said, White would looks excellent. On the other hand, it looks great as it is...

in fairness i think they look good as they are....theres not many options available unfortunately that hasnt been done, white would be OTT as they have large spokes, although a darker colour i dont think would work due to the colour of your car....

im considering anthracite with white sparkle finish on the misus (once ive talked her into it) - that said i would go any darker than the silver you have on a dark car...you need a colour that isnt going to blend in but not be too intrusive

Your not wrong Sarah, that colour looks the tits ;)

Dont think i can do that at home tho with a spray can??.

if you get a private plate get the pressed plates to set them off!

Ah! didnt realise you wanted to do it at home. Still could though, its just finding the paint! Sure you must be able to get it. They do look nice!

Thats weird as i was thinking of a set of nice new small plates today.hmm not sure about pressed plates.I think for that colour choice i would be better taking them to a spray shop.

Anyone handy with photoshop??..:D

Cheers mate :).not sure how low it is as ive dropped it on coilovers.

Yeah i do want a plate mate as i had one years ago.i just want to tidy the look up of my A3 1st.get the little bit of rust done and the alloys refurbed.

As you've no chrome on the car, all grills are dark, I like the darker alloys if you are keen to change from how they are. Looks a bit meaner, i like that look. just my thoughts

Yeah i think that to sarah, thinking gunmetal grey.then i can do it myself at home.anyone had ago at refurbing there alloys?.

nope but neighbour has several times....what hes found is that spray/air pump is great for the base coat, but he insists on the laquer being applied by a body shop....much nicer finish and lasts longer due to how it is applied

here is my car with them vw/audi metgrey

I have done mine gunmetal grey, they look awesome, if i may say so myself.....

I had to spray the centre caps at home as had the wheels powder coated, i got a rattle can from Halfords, went for Ford Graphite Grey, looks really good, check the colour out if you can at a local Halfords, see if you like it, reckon you could do it at home with a couple of cans.

i think gun metal does look awesome on silver....and a few other colours....not ming blue though :/

LOL...oh soz mate, I was just saying about the colour....still think they would look good dude in that colour.

Yep defo not doing white!.ive hada quote on the refurb and to do the original colour it will be £185 for the four or to do the smoked chrome that will be £210.These good prices you think?...If i go standard colour ill prob spray them myself.

local place to me does them for £30 a corner...... thats blasted, acid dipped and sprayed or powder coating (and repair if required)

they do a damned good job too as my neighbour has recently found on some BBS splits, they did 3 colours for him, including polishing the lips for not much more - thats in Chesterfield

it is fella...... theres a few round us charging what you have been quoted, and a few charging the lower amount..... i know your in Essex so in theory you'll have to pay more, but im sure you'll be able to finder cheaper than that

Yeah ill have to shop about or take a long weekend of work and do them myself mate.Otherthing ive coem up withn ow is what colour to paint the calipers??...there red at the mo but im thinking yellow???

I had all 4 of mine done for £80, that was at city powder coaters in Brum...turnaround was bang on as well, had mine done in 3 days!!!

Top job as well, excellent quality, stripped, shot blasted, powder coated and then lacquered.

£80!! nilz thats well cheap, but thats in brimingham yeah?..im after a place in essex really.they all charge around £200.

****** hell nilzy..... £80!! bargain!! :)

Steve, there will be some about just have to search the Ford forums bruvva ;)

Bump!!

Anymore ideas?..ive got it booked in the bodyshop next month and might get the wheels done at sametime.

Photoshop please :D ??

The standard finish/colour of your alloys suit your car down to the ground. Can you not imagine the look of your car with a dark alloys ?
Also look at the silver S3 above with the dark alloys (which does look terrible in my opinion), well imagine the whole of your car with a similar colour - do you think it will stand out from the crowd - maybe you don't ? It's your own personal choice - don't forget your targetting Audi S3 owners only here. Just like you might get different comments raised on, for example a BMW forum. Ask other car friendly people - friends and family to give your their 2 cents and then decide.
