Stage 2 map

Hi all. Whos running a stage 2 map on their S3?
What boost does a stage 2 map run and what mods are needed for a full stage 2 setup?
TIP, airfilter, dumpvalve, FMIC, 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust. anyhting else?
What bhp/torque figures should be expected?
help appreciated. thanks
 
Those mods should cover you for Stage 2.

Boost on a Stage 2 map varies with the map that you have to be honest - won't be a huge amount more than stage 1, it just delivers it differently.

Stage 2 can (I say can, not will) take you to around the 220 g/s air flow mark. So that's around the 275 BHP mark. Not sure about torque output.
 
im planning on going stage 2 with just a 007p, FMIC, N249 bypass and silicone TIP..... we'll soon see what it does (although not till after the hols) :)
 
Sounds good to me. I'm booked in next Friday for revo stage 2 map... Can't wait! Spent best part of 1200 quid in last few months to get sorted. Just need 007p. Will let you know how she goes after
 
good luck fella....tbh im dubious about some of the items some tuners insist on you having before they will touch it for stage 2.... i dont think from reports that a 3 inch cat back is needed for a start, thats £400 saved, not sure about the downpipe, ok its restrictive but for this sort of power level? i think thats debatable

How are you going to get a stage 2 map with them mods. Its completely pointless Tim. None of them mods have really any real benefit in performance, they are more reliability mods. Most standard and stage 1 cars I have seen run them mods anyway.

The main reason for the stage 2 software is to adjust the boost and timing due to having a full turbo back exhaust. As you will have better exhaust gas air flow, the quicker you can get the air out the quicker you can get it in. With the Fuel/ratio adjusted this is the difference between a stage 1 and 2. You will find that cars running stage 2 mods without mapping will not run very well as the fuelling and boost will be all over the place.

Stage 1 = Standard car

Stage 2 = Uprated DV, Uprated air filter, Full turbo back exhaust (Optional - FMIC, Silicone TIP)

Stage 3 = Hybrid turbo Possibly injectors

I'm a bit confused here. A stage 1 APR reflash (only) gets you 195KW/262hp. http://www.goapr.com.au/products/ecu_upgrade_s3.html

Yet a stage 2, with 3" exhaust, 3" downpipe, FMIC, DV and CAI only delivers an extra 13hp?

If thats true, seems like great value for money!!!
 
Again, me being with stage two now via C/C.

Noticabley its the way it delivers the power/ torque compared to the stage one that I was inpressed about cost issues aside. ALOT more smoother too instead of a big lump of boost then sod all after 5k on a stage one.


My rough estimates on R/R figures then now...

My BAM 225 S3

Stage 1 with a Panel / 007p forge / = 250bhp / 280ftlb
Stage 2 (inc the above) also now with Full AH fab intercooler inc hoses / forge TIP / 3" Downpipe+ 200 cell cat / plus a resonated miltek. = 275bhp / 320ftlb as per recent Dynodynamics reading.


Badgerbill confirms, when K04's are pushed... They can give these sorts of power/ torque at the risk of throwing a rod.

I guess its a risk that we all take @ Stage 2 on a standard engine.

Anything over 300 ft/lbs and thats where the risk lies IMO....

I have decided not to bother with Stage 2 myself now, but that is due to the following reasons:

Cost. I didn't pay for my Stage 1 Revo map. Meaning I have no receipt. Meaning it costs the full whack again for the upgrade. ****.

I have my Stage 1 map turned up to the max it can do. That's both boost and timing. And then have added further timing advance on top of that. OK on my engine as it has a large port head.

I'm currently getting around the 215 g/s airflow mark on the engine as it stands now. I still haven't got a 3" downpipe or sports cat, or a silicone TIP (which I desperately need as mine is old, shagged, and sucks in on itself). I think the results will be higher still as the engine is with those mods added. But that remains to be seen.

215 g/s works out at around 268 bhp. Torque unknown. Worth spending £400 to gain ~10 bhp which I might gain from the mods mentioned anyway?

appreciate that and agree to an extent...... the restriction on the S3 under 300bhp is the downpipe NOT the CAT or the Cat back exhaust.... by chucking an FMIC on i will have lower temps which will allow the tuner to factor in a higher boost, R tech have kindly agreed to do me a stage 2 custom map for £250, now what their custom consists of, i dont know...... but i know that i will be running more boost when compared to my Stage 1 CC
 
Surely the point of having a stage 2 map is to accomodate the extra mods you have since the stage one map. to change the boost timing and fuel as your getting lower itake temps faster spool. having a stage 2 on a std car is not a stage 2 its just a high boost custom map.
Stage 1 is a a map and intake mods
stage 2 is a map with intake, exhaust, fmic

At what torque are people having clutch slip? on satge 2 or with hybrid and stage 3?
 
I think youd only need a fmic and the reliability mods to get to stage two, ess three showed that an exhaust did hardly nothing to bhp/torque, just allowed better throttle response. For 1k :S Even if it did give some bhp people often say around 10bhp which isnt proved anyway. I wouldn't pay £100 for 1 bhp :D

value for money = 0

telling your wife/gf/etc how a FMIC and 3" downpipe works = 10/10
 
try bribing money out of her to do HER car....... with those pieces.........

not without a map it isnt :)

the Mini S wasnt far off mine as standard....light car mate and had the turbo mounted bang at the front of the engine...there was hardly any lag on it either....still miss driving that :(
