Hi guys, im new on this form . Ok so basically was looking for your experties , I have just done a single to douoble din rns-e upgrade on my audi a4 b6. Everything with the RNS-E seems to be working fine without me getting it coded which is strange. the issue im having is with the climate control unit which i also changed. basically only the passenger side air vent and the drivers side air vent seem to be working after the change of the unit :3sadwalk:. the center and the windscreen heater doesnt work at all now. also no matter what temperature i set it to it seems to be blowing warm air. is it a simple coding issue? the instructions i followed for the rns-e install gave no indication that the climate control unit will have to be coded. any help is much appretiated :salute: thanks

What climate unit are you using is it from a B6, i have a second one from a B7 that also dosen't work properly in my B6 but works fine in my friends B7 so there may be connection issues, my advice would be to remove the front pannel from the second double dinn one you have and fit it to your original single dinn unit as it is only the front that is different this way you can use your original working unit but it will fit in your console or failing that shave the sides of your original unit to fit lower in the console.Hope this helps, i actually made one new looking unit from about 3 units using buttons ect from each one as some of the symbols were worn.

i second what matty says, the b7 unit is wired differently, you can addapt the wiring but if not comfortable doing so then as said, just shave your old unit down or swap facias.

B7 A/C unit wiring is different on the Rear Heated screen and requires an additional external relay.
I documented this >>Here<<
Coding is also important on the A/C unit and you have to follow a procedure to set your car VIN number to the A/C unit.
It may be that you have the wrong coding - particularly with respect to LHD/RHD configs - this may be your problem?
I have done all of this and have a b7 unit from Denmark installed in my B6 all working well.

Where are you in Essex - I maybe nearby and have a full VAG-COM and all the procedures for VIN and unit coding.

thanks guys for your advice. it is a b7 unit it came out of a b7 rs4. i was considering shaving my original before i got hold of the b7 unit as a few have done on the forum but the reason i put this one in was because i also got the recaro interor out of that rs4 :yahoo: and so wanted the front heated seats to work. as i never had heated seats before i bought the required heated seats loom from kufatec. so you see why i realy want to get this climate control working rather than putting my old one back in :whistle2: woorlord thanks, pm sent.

Got to share this with you all - "B6 Essex" came this morning for a diagnostic scan.......

Coding set to 00000 - good as per car spec.
VIN re-coded as popping up a VIN error on the A/C unit.
Also remapped all motor and sensors - went from 0 to 255 back to 0 - not what was expected so quickly?

On furhter investigation.......
Always best to plug all the leads in that you've unplugged then the unit has a chance of working!
Two plugs now plugged in and motors and sensors recalibrated - went from 0 to 255 through a load of other numbers, (as tjhe motors go through their full travel range), and back to 0.
All good.
Only two errors popping up now on the A/C unit which are the front heated (driver + passenger) seats open circuit - understandable as this A/C unit has this functionality but RS4 heated seats not wired up yet.

Yeap I'd concur here, the B7 changes wiring, minimally with as already stated with a relay, checked circuit diagrams few weeks ago for a B7 climate just out of interest to see what changed.

Nice writeup btw on the linked thread & this, its good to see people do make time to come back & report instead of leeching without providing end results & info to help others.

Have posted the circuit schematic for the B6 to B7 Rear Demist modification in my original thread,

Hey guys, just wanted to give a huuuuuuuuge thanks WOORLORD :salute: I went to see him today and all credit to him my B7 climate control is fully up and running in my B6  would also like to apologise for the embarrasing setback of leaving two of the plugs disconnected lol :whistle2: prooved verry interseting when he was trying to code it with no respose from the unit lol. I also got a shiny new 2009 map dvd from him which kept me verry entertained on the drive back from his seeing all the little icons of shell and bp lol so im a even more happier man. And one thing after seeing him in action today im sure of is that a VAG com is definitely on my christmas list  So next on the list is to wire up my heated seats and make circuit for the B6 to B7 Rear Demist modification. Lets just hope i dont forget any plugs this time lol. Once again WORLORD all credit to you on this one, thanks a million.
