My mate has just bought the above and just wondering where is best to get one from ? do any after market company do a good fitting one or is it a dealer only part ? had a look on awsome gti & euro car parts but nothing listed

cheers for any replies folks

i found mine on ebay mate its abt you want they are the audi ones if you cant find it on ebay just but it in on line they have a web page

The ABT one is pretty decent... a bit more slimline than the Audi "GmBH" S-Line version...

ABT have been discontinued now, although you can get the odd cut-price deal on those (£75 territory) otherwise it's £125-odd + painting and fitting for the S-Line OEM part.... I can get you the part number if you're interested, PJMSpeedy might be able to get you a good price on the parts too..

I'm looking to get a decent one myself found these on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350362376287&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

And the OEM (Votex) from stafford

You've got a good choice of spoilers there, they're all stuck down with 3M adhesive tape, the one from Taiwan is quite reasonable considering that it's ABT and sprayed to your exact colour code for around £120. If you want something a bit different I have seen carbon fiber ones, they look the part on a dark coloured A4.

the second one looks like the one i have and iv got the abt one fits very well and looks very good too.
good price as well

I've got to say Lostbok, your a bit of a nerd are'nt you, you sure your not the spokeman for Audi. :rulez:

Alright clever clogs - To me it's OEM due to the fact that Audi installed Votex parts at the point of manufacture. :eiertritt:

At the risk of starting a debate ..... my understanding is that the Votex kit was offered from the factory if specified, so if that's true then technically you're not wrong.

It seems that some people are not as clever/knowledgeable as they think they are Lostbog sorry Lostbok!!

I'm not saying I'm right here, but that was what I thought. I'll happily hold my hands up if someone knows better.

Sebhar... not so hasty ;) u have NO IDEA who you're dealing with :readit:

Ah... Q-Jimbo, we cross swords once again (metaphorically speaking!) ;) Usually I'd bow to your previously proven encyclopaedic knowledge of all things B6, but I'm pretty sure that Votex were not offered "from factory"... although they were offered on the car when new as a post factory, dealer-fitted option, not quite the same as OEM - if you look up the Audi registered spec of Votex kitted cars, the picture that they will paint of it will include sad little grey skirts (same as mine had), unlike later S-Line kit, which is OEM and recorded by Audi as factory fitted.

Thus and therefore :readit: In the true "Original Equiment Manufacturer" definition of "OEM", Votex kit is not Audi, although it was Audi approved at one stage... so I'll grant that it's a bit of a grey area... same story for ABT, which was also offered after the factory, but by Audi dealers once Votex had fallen out of favour.

Fact is Votex and ABT* do decent quality kit: unlike a lot of the other really brittle aftermarket cr@p out there... I went OEM (S-Line) for mine 'cos I did it at the same time as the rest of the kit, but I was very tempted by the ABT spoiler as it's a bit more subtle.... and for the sake of a boot-top spoiler, you could probably go as cheap as you like, it's not like a body-skirt that's got to match panel spaces and is gonna get hit by stones or catch the odd bump, so even if it was a cheap brittle on, it's unlikely to ever show.

* yes there is also a lot of other seriously good, arguably better Otty / Hoefele kits out there too, if you can afford them, but ABT and Votex stuff gets more recognition because it has had the official Audi stamp of approval at some stage.

Fair one mate -as I say I'll stand corrected I'm just saying it how I understand it to be, which is that when the cars left the dealers they were fitted with the kits! Whether fitted at factory or dealer I have no idea! I guess it depends on your interpretation of OEM - personally mine would be that if it's Audi approved, and the dealers offer it as option it's OEM - but that's perhaps just me.

Interesting post though mate, I expect Merc forums have the same arguments about AMG/Brabus etc

I can't believe that we are having a discussion on what is OEM or not, there are so many ways you can look at this, If I buy replacement brake calipers from an Audi dealer is it OEM? even if the original manufacturer was Lucas, I can purchase the same calipers from Lucas. So what is the difference between this scenario and purchasing Votex parts from a main dealer?

See wiki def: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oem

for cars, I always thought it was "did it roll off the factory floor with it"...

Granted: rear light clusters are made by Hella, S4 Avus wheels are made by Ronal... but they do have Audi part numbers on them and most importantly, little Audi badges :)

Thanks for the help people and glad i could help with starting a handbags at dawn debate

Hello Guys again, the mate mentioned above now wants me to order a boot spoiler from the dealers(as i work in a parts department so get lumbered with everyone wanting stuff cheap) but the dealers list 3 being: acessorie,S4 + sport, does anyone have images of any of these as they dont and would be nice for him to see what his choices are and also does anyone know the fitting differences(as in drilling holes etc?).
thanks again for reading

i maybe wrong but im sure the s.line one is the right one it should be the same thicknes as the lights when looking down at it from the top of the boot if that makes sense. not sure if you can see the one on my car if not pm me and ill send a pic of it on the car and off.
