Hiya when driving over speed bumps I get a knocking noise from the front of the car any ideas what it could be please. Iam thinking front ARB or front suspenion please help as I want to get this sorted asap thanks car is s3 on a v reg 2000 plate

As you've mentioned, I would suggest shocks, bushes, top mounts, broken spring . . . so the usual suspects. . .

My knocking (around corners, when turning, when braking, when accelerating - lol) must be my top mounts. I've changed everything else now with the exception of the shocks.

My shocks are squeeking big time now but they still seem to be handling the stick i'm giving them quite well. I was chucking it through some pretty tight bends last night and the thing just grips still. Cant wait to get new springs and shocks on though.

Same here.... CLunking and banging, but still sticks like s**t to a blanket....

Agreed with the above. Still wonder whether those Weitec or KW kits would do, all in for 500!!

if your cars are basically a TT underneath, why cant you get GMAX's spring and damper kit thats intended for the TT?

i have nothing but good to say about gmax. the one thing i love about their gear is that if you look through their site, practically everythign is tailored for the specific car and engine combo (ie different part numbers for springs and dampers if you have one size engine compared to the next)

they all come with three years of warrenty. ive had a few of their kits in the past, the damping always feels well judged, ive fitted their kits to loads of other peoples cars without complaints (in fact, putting one on a golf this weekend) i have nothing but praise for them.

with the mk4 ive just got, if ever that needed to be lowered or the dampers felt worn, i would definitely buy a gmax kit for it. i budgeted for a kit when i bought the car but the dampers are still good so no need to replace them

Maybe someone has already said it (forgive for not reading the entire post) but the knocking from my car is the ARB Bushes.. They are getting replaced next week, maybe worth getting these looked at before the ARB its self as thats a lot more expensive..
