Just of late my car has been a ****** to fire up , This only happens when the car has been left for atleast 6 hours ,
Ive charged the battery and it isnt temperature ( weather ) related

It turns over as normal just takes maybe a second or so longer than normal,
Any ideas anybody??
While playing with vag com ( no faults found ) i noticed the coolant temp. read on vag com shows around 100 degree and the dash shows 90. this surely isnt the problem is it??
I mean a faulty coolant temp. sendor??

Funny you'vw posted this as mines the same, thought it was the battery but had that replaced and its still the same, sometimes worse if its been cold, think it might be down to the MAF as i think thats knackered.

Mine had a funny starting thing going on after it had a smoke test, so I changed the maf and it went away.

nah they do this down to the varible temperture readout, its to make the car look more quality than it actually is.

I had issues in the cold but its gone now its warmer. I've replaced the temp sensor, replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the throttle body, reset the TB position, and cleaned the maf. It still does it in the cold!

Its annyoing as hell, thinking about torching mine tbh at the moment and getting an s4 :)

Mine has a newish maf.
What do you mean sportstractor? "smoke test"?

Mines doing the same, quite bad after the car's been sat for a few hours. Sounds like a Subaru on start up for about 5 seconds. Starts fine once its hot though.

Seems to struggle alot when the car is parked on an incline, it's starting to really **** me off:keule:

There's one thing people haven't tried, the N80 valve, maybe i should give that a bash, might even change the fpr too, it's sounds like a fuelling issue on start up:shrug:

Just to let you people know, i fixed my starting issue. I spent lastnight looking for what the hell was wrong, tested everything. In the end i ended up checking around near the pcv system and hey presto!!!

There are 3 outlets on the left hand side on the intake manifold, 1 on the side and 2 underneath. The culprit was 1 of the outlets underneath. The pipe that goes to the FPR was rubbing on the pcv rubber sleeve and it had managed to make a tiny hole in the pipe. Whipped the pipe off, changed it for some Forge vac line and job done, car starts fine!

I also had a mess around with the FPR before i found this split hose and it ended up leaking so went the eurocarparts and picked up a 4bar fpr, put it in today and the cars running spot on:)
