I'm looking at wheel options and would like your opinions on whether to go for 18's or 19's. I'm not too concerned about the tyre costs, but don't want it to look like a tractor. I've always lowered my cars and had coilovers on my R32 and have coilovers on my mk2 golf. Don't really want to spend money lowering the A4 but it does already have the sport set up which I believe is about 15-20mm lower.

Any pics would be good

i have just 17s but i think 19s would be gooooooddd

i have the exact same car as you with 18" alloys with 235/40/18 tyres. do you want me to take a pic?

can't do it now because its dark now but can have them up tomorrow morning.

The Sports are indeed 20mm lower than standard. 18's look fine - 19's can look a bit ott depending on the wheel design in my opinion. 19's would probably look better with a lower too, although they wouldn't look out of place on standard suspension.

18s for the simple fact of road conditions ,
hell these days if i could afford a nice set of 17s i would do that as the road potholes and general conditions are terrible .

Just be greedy and have both. 19's for the summer 18's for the winter.:sly:

If you don't mind taking a pic that would be great.

I've had 19's on my R32 for a summer and got to say the ride was better on the standard 18's. I just thought that with the A4 being a bigger car it might suit the 19's, but as you guys have pointed out, road conditions and possibly needing to lower the car make the 18's seem like the sensible choice.

Cheers

i have to say i went for 16s to 17s and and you can feel the road more so going to 18s or evan 19s is a no no for me

mine is the same as yours, 3.0 quattro sport. sorry if the pics are a bit crap, not at home and don't have my camera with me.

19's definately i have 19" RS6's on my A4 1.8T 190 S-line, they look wicked, handle great but you do feel the bumps

just measured it, you should be able to get 19's on with 40 side wall tyres on with out a problem plus the 40's would soften the bumps a bit.

Looks very nice! Was that on standard sport suspension?? Getting my windows tinted by Pentagon Glass in the morning..

as far as i can remember it was all standard spec.

you getting them dipped or is it film?

It's a film. They did my last 2 cars and I was really pleased. I normally have a smoke tint all around, but this time I'm having midnight around the back to keep the sun of my 6 month old and light tint on the front. The light tint is still illegal but it looks so light that you would have to be very unlucky to get pulled.

Car looks Great. Perfect drop IMO and B7 RS4's suit it perfectly. :yum:

i was going to mention that. if it's a traffic car that pulls you, there's a good chance he'll check it. i got pulled 5 times just because i had tinted windows on my mini. luckly mine where just barly leagal.

if they do stop you and test the window and it fails, they'll ask you to peel a bit of your tint off and if you refuse they will inpound your car.

it's just something you have to be carful of.

Had smoke tints all around on a black car with no issues from the police. Had the same on a silver golf R32 and the wife got pulled for having German pressed plates and they checked the tints so we had to change them to a 70% film which was still just over the limit but didn't have any other problems.

just do what you want and not what everyone else says. i run 19 inchers with a 35 side wall and it is bumpy but you soon adjust;)
