I must admit its my first time trying this and i got a bit carried away with the Bur:lmfao:,I'am no where near finished yet gonna fill the V with weld and maybe around the weak spots and see how it turns out then give a fine polish.

Hi All,
I'am still waiting on me Rods to come from the states there taking there sweet *** time so I'am at a lose end:wacko:, getting bored waiting for them so i started doing a few other things.
stripped down the pistons ready for the new rods

Removed the PCV system ready for the OCC,i missed out on the group buy OllieH was doing but i like the look of it and the size of the outlets are perfect so i went for that one.

I took the baffles out of the charge pipe don't think it will do anything performance wise but i did read somewhere on here the spool is louder and this turbo is gonna sound sweet so the louder the better i think.

Got 3.5 inch piping to replace the oem air feed and took the die grinder to the air box, again not sure on the gains but it all helps i think.

and sprayed the FMIC black ohh yeah :icon_thumright:

These rods cant come quick enough.

Got the OCC plumbed up so here goes,i decided to mount mine low down on the bulk head that way the lines are nicely hidden and line up quiet well.

Liking the catch can install :). What have you managed to mount it on that low?

Another question, could a stage 2 map be used and tweeked to suit the hybrid, or would it be a stage 3??

Largely depends if it needs larger injectors which is a bit of an unknown atm... K03 hybrids (for A3's, Ibiza's, Leon's and Golf's for example) require stage 3 as the setup is much like going big turbo, larger MAF, injectors etc... Stage 1/2 maps aren't designed to work with anything more than essentially the OEM setup... and to pre-empt the inevitable question, changing the DP for a 3" one and adding a FMIC doesn't mess with the way the engine runs to warrant a stage 3... typically changing injectors (as these have to be scaled in) and turbo (spool and airflow characteristics are typically different) will require a complete custom map commonly known as stage 3.

Thanks Ollie,
I drilled 2 holes in the bulk head and pop riveted the bracket in place putting a small bit of sealer on the bracket just in case,i like it down there its out of sight.
I think Tuffty answered that last question for ya but yes i will be going stage 3.

My stage 2 map was removed from the car and a stage 3 flashed onto it .
They said its not a generic remap when it goes as far as a hybrid, front mount cooler and hi flow down pipe
Maybe wrong though

Do you mean me bill or paulypaul?

Yes,
Phase 3 ,
The map was pretty much written for/ with my car as its the car they first tested their hybrid conversion on.
You can by all means take a look at my car . As i knew less than i do now when i had it done, ( not realy saying much !)
I did have to have the car back to them when i fitted the downpipe as it was over boosting something chronic. I saw over 2.5 bar on a test drive after fitting so unplugged the n75 until it was sorted.

2.5bar - owch..
did the internal organs stay in place?
the hybrids are are awkward to stop from spiking..

All the insides stayed inside and sounded/ drove fine after but it was always in the back of my mind that they couldnt be happy. So i bought a new block from audi and set about getting the other parts for a forged build.
Now its all in and run in i would like somebody to look at the car and see if there is anything more that can be done within the map. I just can not justify the repeated £300 bills from where i used to go for no real progress.

as tuffty says.. mbc for user control (without the spikes) - forge unos for example, and logs to check you have sufficient fueling and not too much timing or egts

Sorry im hijacking this thread BUT
Bill could you tell me any vag com measuring blocks to log together or otherwise that you could check to see if any tweaks are needed?
Im guessing Fueling? Boost? Timing? any others and sorry to be lazy/ dim could you tell me which numbers these units are?
Maybe all they hybrid boys could do this?

Hi,

To get a good overall picture may I suggest the following ?

Fuel 002, 031
Timing 003, 020
Boost 115, 118
Temps 004, 112

Ideally 4th gear pulls wide open throttle from low rpm to just before the limiter.

After making the above do a short log of Lambda regulation/ Fuel trims 001, 032 just at idle/part throttle would be fine.

Regards
Morgan

what he said :)
watch for your CF's on 020, more than 6's and I would back out of it..
I have an APR2 car in here currently for other fueling related issues, and now I've fixed the fueling, its timing pull is too high for me.. 9.8CF logged.. ewwww. (backed down now for customer)-no FMIC but stage 2 sold.. madness

presume your s3 runs wideband?

Yes bill,
It does have a wide band lambda,
i fear ive just wasted an hour of my weekend,
i logged 003, 031 and 115 then 002, 031 and 115

while flicking up and down the measuring blocks i saw that the coolant was showing 90 degree on the dash but 100 degree on vag com. is that normal??

Why dont you start a logs thread a Paul.

Will do.
As it looks like ive stolen your thread,
Have your rods turned up yet?

Thanks..
Yeup got the Rods and everything else to put it all back together. But the head is now holding me up as i have decided to port and polish.
Won't be long now though ;)
