Got my car back from Audi after it went in for a banging sound coming from the engine bay. I know a few people wanted to know the outcome. The sound is apparently 2 servo hoses that were banging together. It was not caused any damage. They have adjusted the positions of the pipes and have put a sort of sponge padding between the 2 pipes to stop it happening again. They have informed Audi as they have not seen this before and are wondering if there are other new cars out there with the same problem.
Got a couple of questions guys if you don't mind?
1. Does anyone know the match or closest paint match to the grill surround on the BE? Inside trim is referred to as piano, but the grill surround looks the same. If you were to colour match, would it be Brilliant or Phantom Black? Reason is I have spare mirror housings and would like to paint them black to match. No pearlescent obviously or sparkle/flake.
2. Deano, can I ask how much Audi charged you for painting your calipers or would you rather PM me?

I'd say flat black. On my Phantom Black, I can clearly tell the difference not just because of the flakes, but somewhat the depth of the colour. The trim is deeper than Phantom Black. Hope that helps.

I'm popping the housings into a local bodyshop for them to do, trusted and professional. Flat black; is that gloss or matt finish? Laquer will be going on, so it'll end up gloss look anyway? Anyway, I'll point out the match I'm looking for to them, but thanks.

Finally got a date for the car, production on the 30th August, Shipping 5th Sept & collection 20th Sept.
i was initially told that from order (14th April) that id have it in August. I was expecting the above dates to be honest following the MY11 but the dealer has said he will sauce me a car in the down time from when my company car goes till i get the A3! can live with that..
Also i believe that the new rotor wheels are.....and im sorry about this.... the same as the wheels on the Skoda Roomster!!??
What do you think??

Shame about the wheels but thats the problem with AUDI being part of the Volkswagen group. The next A3 will share 70% of its components with VW, Seat, Skoda which while understandable makes it appear less premium

Well got a up date on my order from my dealer today. Still no build date said "ORDER NOT YET SCHEDULED INTO A WEEK"Only different on the system is change from MY10 to MY11.
All I've had is an updated delivery estimate of 1st September. Calls and emails to the dealer are obviously being ignored. Bored of this now. Had my order in since February!!!

I ordered mine on the 19/4/10 and im told end sept as a latest. even have a date it will be on the boat!

Also you can only Spec a A3 3 door as a black edition at the moment lol, wonder if they are just updating the site as we speak!
Placed the order on 15/04/2010. But last week i did change the order by adding the Tech pack, so i wonder if that as delayed my order alittle on getting a build date.

Hmm can't imagine they would really but it back in the queue for the sake of that. Mines due on the boat on the 5th Sept and i would assume that they dont send the ship more than once a month so good chance yours will be on it too.
Been considering my argument for not getting the wheels i ordered (even though i may be quite happy with) to see if there is any compensation for my discomfort. Will be some interesting threads of what the dealers are prepared to offer i think... Naughty but if you dont ask!

You noticed that on the configurator it is showing as a front wheel drive and has been for a few days now.....still updating me thinks!!

i would still assume its black, my GTi was black lined i think they do all high end sport models in black. just done a quick Google search and looks like there all black too.

yeh my mk5 gti was black so was the r32 and the cupra so i hope so, may still call to check...

2.0 tdi (140) SB, need to go eco for a while and its my first car (non company) in about 14 years. had a Edition 30 last best company car ever just running to london and back twice a week from the midlands doesnt really work out as good.
The saleman did say when i place the order that if i made any changes there will be a chance that it will be put back little. Apart from that reason i can't really think why you got a build date and i still not.

I have had a 1.8t black edition on order since the 15th of march and the dealer called today to confirm it would be a my11 BUT delivery mid september. I think I will be cancelling my order no way I am waiting a further 3 1/2 to 4 months for it.

That is along time to wait, have you tried another dealer, worth a call to see if they can get you an earlier slot, seems others have managed it.

Got my car murdered @ My Local Detailing Shop:
Look at those swirl marks!
It was a free "Zymol Concours Wax" demo application. I was unhappy and I can't go around town like that.
Spent four hours.. removed them (Polishing) and detailed (Waxing) everything again at home. Results:

OK, I have another update for you all and yet another excuse. Does this match up to anyone else?;

Apparently there have been problems with the 170 Black Editions (across the UK) where they have been set up incorrectly on the system, and the factory are not able to build them. They have advised that rectifiying this is a manual operation, and that they hope to fix it a.s.a.p."
This is getting silly with the excuses that have been thrown my way since February. If I was ordering it personally they could forget it, but it's a company car and the car list has taken a big hit since I ordered and there is no other car I'd like nearly as much as this. Anyone else had a MY11 2.0TDI 170 order placed and confirmed yet?

Ring around your local dealers and see what they have in - thats how I got mine. Audi were justing taking stock of an Ibis 140 BE when I rang them - I went down, looked at the car and bought it there and then. They then rang me 1 week later to say that another car was on its way 'hot off the press ' and would i like that instead.

Had a other up-date on my order today. Same reason as you, just waiting them to comfirm the specs of 170 model and then will get a build date. Hopefully next week he told me.
That mite be the reason the 170 diesel is missing on the configurator.
