Hi Guys and gals

I had my wheels fitted last week but somewhere.... somehow my wheel locker nut has gone walkies :sadlike:

I have looked like 5 times in the car and called the garage this morning to ask if they have found it but NO im gutted

What shall i do? how i realised was i bought some new lockers to fit and you know the rest, i beleive its an audi locking nut ( i think:think:) has like a star shape in the middle

Any suggestions i thought o going to Audi to ask if they have one what do you think

If you post a pic, someone will be able to tell you if they are OEM, if they are Audi should be able to order the part or maybe they should be able to get it out for you but in the past ive had to have mine drilled off! Good luck!

audi wont give you one, i went through this process and they know im a garage

you need some dicutting sockets to pull the anti thievery rings and then you need spiral tapered dia cut sockets and a large bar to cut in and remove them, its around 3 hours work or 1 if you get lucky the anti thievery rings are a bitch

all in all i got 4 off without damage

Oh god :crying: i guess cross fingers and legs and go to a local garage i cant beleive how much bad luck i have after waiting so long for the wheels

Thanks Sarah and P5SND

On an old car I was sold it without the locking wheel nut key and only realised when I went to get new tyres, the garage I was at some how managed to smash them off with a mallet. It did no damage to my car and only took around 30 minutes for all 4 to be broken they only charged me £20 too not sure I would feel some comfortable with someone doing that to my A3 though

If your locking nuts have a thin depression in a star-ring shape all around the outer diameter ie for the Locking Key to go IN TO, then its a VAG one, if its just a normal nut where the Key goes roung the outside it will be aftermarket. Get your garage to check. Although they might be unlikely to sell you a new locker.
The dealer I bought mine off didn't give me one, and mine had aftermarket ones as why wheels are not Audi. So as finding the right one would be impossible just took my car to my garage, who wacked one some sockets of a certain size and they came off pretty easily!

Failing that you can call a company called DYNOMEC who have one of the best locking nut remover tools there is. They sell to trade only but can tell you what garages nearby have this tool, and you can go there.

Which one you have over 100 posts

he is right most aftermarkets dont have the slip ring therefor making it a case of a dicutting to slacken, job done 15mins

You dont need a part number to get a replacement, my local Audi parts man came out to look at the nut, and tried a box of different master keys to confirm.

If they arent audi lock nuts, easiest way to remove them is to buy some cheap sockets slightly smaller than the lock nut, and hammer then on, dont even try drilling them!

Hi,
Attached is a pic of my locking nut for my Audi S3 1999. Could anyone let me know which locking key for that stud.
Thanks in advance.

Wrong forum, this is the 8p, you have an 8L.
That looks like an after market one. To remove you could just hammer in a large hex or torx bit.
