    Upcoming 2014 Meets...... Suggestions

    Hello Yorkshire and Humberside Folks....

Thought it might be good to get the ball rolling for meets in 2014.
Maybe we could set up a calendar with planned meets.

My suggestion and has been discussed in previous meet is a coastal road trip. Whitby is a good place and those coming from West and South Yorkshire we have the delight of using the fine roads going though the North Yorkshire Moors.
I feel April Bank Holiday would be an ideal time for this. Start of the meets and events year. Spring time so time to show off the paintwork and decent weather.
We could all meet up in various locations and then a nice road trip to Whitby. Meet there in a suitable location. Have a chat then a nice walk around the town.

Who's up for this? Plenty of time to organise and no excuses for not turning up.

Please also feel free to add suggestions. Let's get a 2014 calendar with plenty of meets on it. ;-)

    Sounds good to me....

How about waiting til after New year when it starts to get lighter on a evening and weather improves? Is that ok? More people might come out of winter hibernation. Lol

You have any suggestions on a day each month?

That bit I haven't decided on yet. I used to attend Post Office weekly on a Tuesday night but I'm not sure if ASN Yorkshire are ready for such intensity in meets....i'd rather try monthly first to get stable numbers reoccurring every meet.

Maybe if we said the first Wednesday evening of every month? Arrival at 7:30pm?

I'll draw up a calendar when I'm next on my laptop. Then for every month do the following..

    For example:
    MARCH 2014
    - The Old Post Office (??/??/??)
    - Costal Trip (??/??/??)
    APRIL 2014
    - The Old Post Office (??/??/??)
    - Audi Dealership Meet (??/??/??)

    And so on.....

Gives everyone a diary for upcoming meets. ;-)

First Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm sounds good. Fairly easy to remember.

Just need some feedback off other members to see if they approve.

Yeah, kinda still allows for that month space between meets and like you say, fairly easy to remember.

    Await feedback from other members

    So weekend only for me.

How about a drive over the Yorkshire Dales?

Monthly meet at the same place and time makes sense, its hard to forget.

Even though the old post office is no probs for me, it is a long way for north, East Yorkshire and humberside members to travel.
But I know Shaun is trying to work his way around to make it fairer for other members.

When I've been part of costal runs before we met at a services (be it on m62, a1, a64 etc) and convoyed there the long way. Seemed to work well
definitely wouldn't go on a bank hol. A Sunday out of season should guarantee a quiet run and no problems parking once you get there. Maybe find a few beauty spots on the way for picture opportunities.

Id be be tempted to have one last meet in dec but don't know if there'd be a big turn out for an early jan meet. Would have to put the question out. Something that could be sorted at the dec meet? Gives everyone more of a reason to turn up to discuss future meets?

dales run might have to wait for the land to thaw out... Quattro's should be ok!

    Rrobson....

Some good points and suggestions there pal.

A meet in December could be arranged. Possibly at Squires, maybe on a weekend. All depends on numbers and weather.

    Good comments.

Post Office will only be run mid week evening as this is where most active members are situated....leaving the weekends for all other meets such as coastal convoys and meets in other Yorkshire regions, thus making it fair for everyone

Like you comment 'Quattro should be ok''

defo like the sound of all of this
im dying to get involved in the meets, and get to meet up with all the asn members
coastal sounds like a great idea (especially with me being a coast man ha)
but a defo no no to bank holiday mates, as I already know trying to travel on the a64 or infact anywhere up here on a bank holiday is dyer stop start and what would take you an hour will take you 4

couple of ideas for you lads, there is a well known car meet in Scarborough, a variety of cars, but think would certainly draw attention and show a few if there was a convoy of Audis turn up and would be great for the books

Bridlington is also a very nice place for meeting up and there is a great place for the meet I know of and then some excellent roads around

post office sounds good but with the location that wouldn't be a weekly thing for me would have to be a monthly with the travelling

im trying to think of something a little more central
but if anyone wants help on arrangeing stuff for up my end (being the coast) so scarborough Bridlington Whitby York let me know im a member of quite a few things up here so always something happening
    1.8Q sleeper all the way

fair enough. You know the spread of members a lot better than I do especially those that are more likely to attend.

You mentioned to to me about moving around the district at the last meet so I knew you'd have the bases covered anyway.

Mark, of course weather dependant. Getting a bit cold on an evening so somewhere indoors is a must. Squires is usually a good venue but would need to be careful because everyone knows how busy it can get. Last time I went (not sure if it still happens) we had to park on the field opposite. Not good if it's boggy.

Mid week is probably slightly better for me (obviously not for everyone) but with Christmas looming weekends are usually reserved for shopping
although, a weekend meet would mean for a few hours I can't spend any money :D

If people are interested in a meet in December I can either arrange The Old Post Office Midweek or Squires on a Saturday Lunch or afternoon if that interests people.
Squires at the moment I presume will be quiet even on a Sunday as I know someone who went there other week on a Sunday and no bikers at all.

Get a list going and see if there's enough people to make one worth while

Weekend meet is probably going to be restricted to 7th or 14th. Mid week would probably want to be the same weeks. Don't think too many people would be bothered about one after that.
