Hi everybody,

On the spur of the moment I have bought an Audi 80 Quattro, 20v, 1990.

it belonged to my parents who have had it from new (it was an ex-demo, so theoretically a few weeks old). That was in 1990. 171000 miles later they were trading it in. I couldn't let it just go to a trader with all it's history, so have bought it.

my dilemma is what to do with it.

Do I spend some money and make it mint? Is it ever going to be worth anything? Is it collectable.

do I use it as a winter hack? 4WD could be any in the snow. I already have a couple of 911s so don't actually need it! Should I stick it in a barn for 20 years?

any advice welcomed.

Peter

Hi Peter, welcome to audi-sport.net. Any pics of the car? I think you should keep the car. I love the shape and styling of it. Enjoy the forum. :) x

I'll post some pics up shortly. On my iPad so presumably need to use photobucket

I think the Coupe has potential to become a 'classic' not sure about other models though.

Mine is the coupe.

Hopefully this pic will work....

Also, here is the options code.

Anyone know what they are? Anything exciting in there, or any glaring omissions?

Ok, I've found an online options decoder.

Doesn't appear to be much leaping out to my up untrained eye.

Apologies for the two pics, they didn't fit on one page

Beautiful car. I'd have been the same. Cannot let that go!
It looks pretty mint. What's needed to restore it to 'as new'?

It's got bits of bubbling in the usual places, interior is fabric so there's not a lot you can do to refresh it after 25 years, 171K miles, it has a squeal when braking, sounds like water pump, so that, loose belt, alternator or power steering or or something

On early b3 80's and coupes didn't have transponder keys what year is the coupe? The locks and barrel are easy to change
PeterS911 that coupe looks good I have a 1987 80 saloon the same colour with over 200k on the clock

Thanks. I'm trying to decide to decide whether to spend a bit on it and make it beautiful again, or whether to cut and run. I don't need it, and 911s are my passion, but it's got so much history and is a great car. I have a 911 virtually the same age, and it's great to see the differences in what were both state of the art cars 25 years ago.

This was it a about a month ago....

I'm a great believer that rhese old cars should be given a new lease of life, and driven a bit.

I'll buy the 80 off of you ;)

Come and see it and see what you think. Make me an offer. I truly don't know what to do with it, but it needs to be treated with the love it deserves.

Not sure what I love more... the 80 in red - almost a Gene Hunt Job, or the classic curves of a 911.... :hubbahubba: Sorry not very helpful to your predicament!

No doubt for me. I know this is an Audi forum but the 911 are my true love. However I've spent £30k on it so far and am still spending. I am trying to avoid following the same path with the Quattro, troubles, I'm an impulse purchaser! I could bare to see it not go to a good home.

I don't really have the time of space for it, but if the consensus is it will go up in time I can stick it in a barn for 10 years.
