Hi all,

My name is Mark, I have just purchased my first Audi and so far have been very happy with it, my last car was an Alfa 147 2.0 TS Lusso on a 51 plate which I owned from new. My Audi is a 2.0 T FS1 S-line Cabriolet on a 2006 plate, it's the rareish colour combo of dolphin grey with red leather and a red roof, I really like this combo, my Alfa was in similar colours too.

I quite like German cars, having owned an E36 325i BMW in my youth, a number of VW Beetles and more recently a '72 Porsche 911. I still have a '78 VW Beetle Cabriolet in my garage which is taken out occasionally.

I have a small question that you may be able to help with, prior to purchase I had a thorough comprehensive survey done on the Audi, nothing major stood out as an issue and since then the car has been serviced by a specialist, my question is that the exhaust sounds slightly blowy, is this the sound it should make (I really like it) or should I be looking at a replacement system soon?

Thanks very much

Hi Mark, and welcome to audi-sport.net.

I have an A3 which has that exhaust blowing sound you described, i dont think it is suposed to sound like that, as i found mine to be blowing from the back end of the flexi pipe, but isnt visible to look at. although the A4 may have a differnt set up. this is just what i found on mine, hope this helps you mate. :)

Thanks Stuart,

I think I'm going to undertake some further investigation, it sounds very quiet at standstill but give it some revs on the move and you can really hear a growl especially in 2nd gear, it's a great sound but I don't think I've heard other A4's make that note (it sounds more like a S4)

Cheers

No Problem mate,

you cant beat a good grunt from the exhaust :)

mine was like that to start with too, but now it just has that horrible blowing noise, although under throttle has still a bit of grunt hehe.
so thinking of booking it in for a stainless system :)
