Hello

It's my first post on this site and from what iv'e seen it looks awsome,I currently drive a 1.9 tdi on a 54 plate, the only complaint i have is the handbrake has failed a couple of times.Anyone else had the same problem?Answer might already be on the site.I shall go for a look.

I've had the hand brake fail on an 8L A3 a couple of times. Hot rear discs when parked, as the discs cool and contract the hand brake looses force and the car rolls off down the hill /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is that what you mean by fail?

Welcome to the forum.

Kev.

Sorry, don't know too much about handbrakes (except for the wife).

But welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum dude!

Mate of mine has a Saab 9-3, which we watched roll across the car park while we had a smoke outside.... luckily we managed to stop the car hitting anything though!!

As KevinT says, if the rear brakes are hot when you apply the handbrake, as they cool, everything contracts and hey presto the handbrake is not applied as firmly as it was before.... I would think that clicking it another notch or two would keep it held. I always leave manual cars in gear as well, just in case

Try copying your post to the A3 forum, might get more attention there.....
