Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI

Hello everyone. Pardon me for intruding on your web site but I have dared enter it hoping someone out there can post a sensible response to a dilema I am having with my Octavia 1.9tdi. I presume this is the common VW/Audi/Seat and the like oil burner.
Problem engine goes totally flat above 3500 rpm. Will not accelerate any further than 4000. Change up a gear and it will accelerate until the same rev area is reached. Mileage 50,000. New diesel and air filters made no difference.

Any one had a similar problem and managed to cure it?

Regards Geoff

You are more than welcome here Geoff!

Not sure how many Skoda drivers we have, but hopefully someone will be able to help - try posting in the "Diesel" forum....

Almost deffinately the air flow meter mate, I had one fitted to my Passat 1.9 tdi after about 60,000 miles but it has lasted to 170,000 now without going again. I know my local specialist has fitted loads of them for tdi owners all with a very simialr complaint. Not sure if Bosch have uprated the part but once it has been replace it seems to be fine from then on. You will also be pleased to know that it is an instant fix, you will know as soon as you rev the car if it has done the job
