So I'm now the owner of a shiny dark metallic grey '02 S3, 210BHP AMK, black heated recaros, xenons, Bose, etc. woohoo
I've just upgraded from a '99 A3 1.8T which I'd run up to to 192k miles (and still going strong). I've had the A3 for 9 years so I'm familiar with the 8L layout.
So far I've rebuilt the rear washer motor, put on new bosch wiper blades, replaced the dipstick and guide, done the ambient light mod, lavished it inside with AutoGlym products.
The head light lenses are severely oxidised - but some wet and dry sand paper plus Meguiars Plast-RX brings them up a treat.
I've found several split hoses under the hood - trying to identify the pipes in ETKA is pretty hard as the diagrams don't look like what's there.
The rocker cover and cam chain tensioner gaskets seem to be blown so I'll be looking to replace those ASAP too.
Although my S3 has a full set of Audi stamps in the book, there's some weird blue coolant in it, so it will be treated to a full purge of the cooling system, new thermostat and injected with G12++. The Haldex seems to have been done at an independent garage too.
Will be getting the VagTech guys in MK to replace the front wishbone bushes with poly ones - I'm hoping the ride won't be too harsh??
