Hi All,

Just bought a used Audi A3 1.9 TDI Sport and after saving for years I'm a little excited! :sly:

However, the radio/stereo display screen is only showing letters/numbers etc... on the top third of the display screen making it difficult to decipher what is written/displayed, the bottom is completely blank.

The dealership told me they had the radio working fully when it came in with full screen display but now it is in 'safe' mode and is only showing the top part of the letters (I figured it said 'safe' rather than 'code' by the top 3rd of the letter which is all that's showing!)

I have entered the code (where I can only see the top part of the numbers!) detailed in my log book but apparently it is wrong so will have to get serial number to get correct one, however I'm more concerned about the blank info on the bottom half of the screen and whether this will resume when I obtain and input the correct code (not sure why the log book code is wrong either?!)

Has anyone come across anything similar and do you know what it is and how to rectify please? Is it just bulbs of some kind or is my stereo toast?

The radio booklet says it is an Audi Symphony Sound System and the car is registered 2006, 55 plate.

Thanks so much, hope someone can help!

id take it back to where you bought it from and demnad he fixes it

Thanks... he said I have to get it functioning out of 'safe' mode first as he swore blind it worked before it went to 'safe'... love the car, hated the dealer!
