Thread: Over heating

Lately my 2001 volkswagen passat 1.8t has been overheating every time i go onto the motorway.
It is fine driving around town but as soon as i get on the motorway the temp goes right up and tells me to stop.
could this be that a switch has gone and the fan is not kicking in when it should? please help

normally find that if the rad fan aint coming on, its more likely to overheat in traffic as there isnt any cool air hitting the radiator to cool the water,

when it over heats do you know if the internal blowers are blowing hot or cold air

my first port of call would be to check the thermostat isnt stuck closed, or partcialy open
