1st gear
on my sisters golf it stopped goin in gear so i had to drive it back, starting it in gear then while driving it changed gear ok.
so i changed the clutch slave cylinder but didnt work and ive just changed the master cylinder and still no joy. when the engine is off you can select all gears fine then when you start the engine and try to put it in gear it wont go in but brings the engine speed down slightly. i tryed selecting the gears on top of the gearbox with someone pressing the clutch, still wont work. so to me the clutch is not disengaging fully but could it be the thrust bearing collapsed. help would be much appricated thanks mike
