Help needed to remove broken wing mirror??

Hi all, just need a little guidance on how to replace the painted part of the wing mirror on the wifes bora, exact same as mk4 golf so it applies to you guys too. It appears that its only the painted part that is damaged, ive had a little go at dismantling but got all scared and thought id ask you guys, do ineed to remove mirror glass? does it just pull off with the old cable tie trick? any guidance appreciated. cheers in advance.:icon_thumright:

The outer case can come off, you have to push the mirror forward past the normal postion (as if its been knocked) then remove the small plastic plug in the bottom of the mirror assembly, there is a small clip inside, you have to get a small flat headed screwdriver and stick it up the hole and push forward to release the securing clip then pull the cover up over the glass (make sure the glass is in an upright postion not pointing up or down, makes it easier to come off)
