Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the GTI badges, when one has GTI wrote in silver and the other has a red I instead of silver.

when they first came out, it was the difference between the 150 and 180 hp version. Then the 180's came with silver badges later on.

Basically, nowadays it means ****** all - as most people have fitted a red badge out of badge envy ;)

i have seen 115bhp GTIs with the red I and silver and red I on the earlier 150bhp GTIs

The red "i" was originally the turbo version 150bhp.
The red T on a 1.8T A3 was the 180bhp engine, i.e. the quattro

What does GTi stand for?All ive come up with is German Turbo injection, daft i know but i can't find it anywhere in the internet,so does it actually have a meaning?

I think she knows....

I think Rallye Sport was the Ford RS range, like the old RS Turbos etc IIRC???

Seem to remember that being related to them.....
