Family member just purchased this model, any issues with this engine? Common faults? Anything to look out for really?

Dont keep it on long life servicing !!

My dad has one of these but his is the 105bhp one. He's had a new DSG gearbox under warranty due to a judder that vw could never solve. Engine seems ok but it is slow

I think it's the 90 bhp manual model, has steelies, standard cloth trim, 59 plate on 40k paid nearly 9 grand, I'd of thought it would of at least come with alloy wheels!?

need to be thrashed to get best out of them
not had any issues as yet with the 1.6 common rail on my customers cars but they are on yearly 10k servicing

Only issue I can see, is the family member is a carer so involves driving inbetween homes no more than 3 mile apart, so I'm worried about issues with the dpf?

dpf could be a issue if used for stop start journeys
i would sugest giving the car a good run every 2 weeks so it gets a clear out

How many miles would you say? 25-50?
