    Hot starting issue

golf mk5 tdi 105 bhp..........starts ok when cold but once hot it take a good few (around say....5 seconds) to start, ive heard its the starter motor if this is the case, can it be repaired? and how can i tell if it is knackered ,i mean it still works.....what do i do? car drives 100% and starts at the first turn of the key when cold,no faults via vag and coolant temp sensor is ok aswell

doubt it's the starter motor if it cranks over for 5 secs, will be more down to the fuel / air mixture being incorrect, hot engines need more air and less fuel to start i believe

ECT faulty would be my guess.

When the engine is hot, disconnect the wiring plug from the ECT and try starting. If it starts straight up, replace the ECT.

thanks all..............but it was the starter !!
I did disconnect the coolant sensor........and it was checked with vcds and it was giving the right readings........when you disconnect it ,it alters the fuel/air/timing and starts straight away...........replaced starter and its ok.
