    Passat - stiff bootlid??

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been mentioned before but cannot find any definitive posts on exactly what the problem is?
Is it the gas struts OR the hinges....could it be both??
The car is a Passat 1.9 Tdi 130 saloon 53/04 plate...I'm 6'3" and Built and I have to really lift to get it open......My wife is like 5'3 and small / petite so you can imagine how she suffers!

If anyone has any definitives for this, what the problem is likely to be, the best place to buy the replacement parts and any how to's for chainging them I'd really appreciate it

Its sumthin I really need to tackle and soon

    Cheers

    Jim

Im pretty sure its the hinges. What we used to do at vw is get a heatgun on the hinges and work some oil into the hinges and work the boot lid manually until it improves, some hinges were replaced if they couldn't be freed off.
