Installed RNS-E (Chrome) and have found the following...

Hi there!

Installed the 2009 RNS-E from my previous A3 Cab in to my new one, moved the bose pin and coded as 0209717, coded BT as 0011222 and added 37 under Long Coding in CAN.

This car has FBMFSW, BT prep only (no armrest cradle or baseplate) and factory iPod in the Glove.

All seems to work fine but VCDS throws out the following:

16-Steering wheel -- Status: Malfunction 0010
19-CAN Gateway -- Status: Malfunction 0010
37-Navigation -- Status: Malfunction 0010
56-Radio -- Status: Malfunction 0010

The "Antenna Amplifier" error's I am aware of, nothing we can do about this short of changing out the bits, but was wondering if anyone might be able to supply any help re the other error's?

Remove all the no fault found modules & just show us the faulting modules please as the rest are irrelevant.

Assuming you have cleared the errors after install then rescanned as there will be errors showing until you have finished you're install, so if not already done, clear then post the errors only.

Well I had another play today and it turns out that I had activated voice control in one module but not in another, hence the steering wheel and CAN faults. A tick in a box sorted that, cannot remember the module, and enabled the speech button on my FBMFSW (for phone control only).

The other faults never came back after clearing and driving the car around for a bit, other than the "00858 - Connection; Radio ZF Output to Antenna Amplifier 007 - Short to Ground" which is the norm from what I have been reading.

Yes the antenna issue will be apparent given you probably had a radio with an rns-e incompatible antenna system in previous, only fix is amp & cable changes, some are content as is.

Your phone module was coded 0011222 and it should have been coded 0011422 for an RNS-E installtion.

Also, if you moved the 3 wires from the blue 12 pin connector for the AUX to the 32 pin connector then your RNS-E could have been coded 0209757 to enable the AUX inputs. You must have removed at least one of the 3 wires to put the BOSE wire in to pin 7 of the blue connector.

Am on the lookout for a 2010 RNS-E so have only installed the 2009 one until then. Will go down the amp & cable changes route when I manage to grab one, but when I had the current unit in my last car I did not really have too many issues with reception.

Will there be any issues with leaving the phone module coded 0011222? I only borrowed the VCDS lead and will not have access to it again until next weekend. Well I guess the question is whats the difference between 0011222 and 0011422? Have not tested it fully but it all seems to work as is...

I only relocated the Bose wire as I never use the Aux. Had to remove the grey wire from location 7 to make space for it, and taped it off. Will leaving the other 2 wires in place give me any issues?

Grabbed my mates cable again and coded up as advised with no error's thrown back at me, bar the Radio ZF Output to Antenna. Next job to be done I guess.

I have a further question tho. I do not seem to be able to access module's 09 or 46. Have tired with the latest release of VCDS and the latest beta. Any idea's as to why this might be?

If its the new MY10 then the 09 & 46 have combined into a new 09 module, are you not able to log directly into the module 09 at all?

So you've tried the 10.3?

Also as already asked, please when posting your car vcds scan logs remove the NO FAULT FOUND modules so we dont have to scroll to Australia to get to the last post or relevant data. :P
