Hi Im new here and recently my B6 A4 has started to respond slow, in other words the turbo isn't kicking in until about 2100 revs and the car is dead until it reaches that. Has anybody any idea what it could be. Its a 1.9tdi by the way. Anyways back to the original question. The vag com cable will not pick up my car, the cable works as we tried it on another a4 and works perfect. Where would I look for a loose connection/ or is there a fuse for the port, if so where is it? Thanks.

Aftermarket Radio? - see the last line of this reply.

If the tool will not connect to the car, then it is possible you have a blown fuse to the Data Link Connector (DLC). You need to get access to a wiring diagram for your car to identify which fuse. May I suggest the erwin Audi site? http://erwin.audi.de/

You could also have a problem with the diagnostic lines in the car. A control module could be holding lines such that they will allow comms.

I'd start with the fuse and then if that is good, you most likely have a bad control module hanging the lines. It is a fairly common problem for '01-'02 ABS systems.

For wiring information on the DLC port, see this page: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/aftermarket-radio.html
