More dash lights than a Christmas tree!!!

I've had a new 09 cluster sat on top of my kitchen cupboards for a few weeks now and today out of curiosity I decided to try plugging it in. Big mistake, I knew it wouldn't start and didn't even try, but as soon as I plugged it in it brought up a brake fault. When I plugged my original one back in I got all sorts of dash lights.
I've managed to sort one of them which was the steering but I'm left with 3 lights esp, tyre pressure monitor and abs.
I've checked vag com and I have many faults which all point to the abs being incorrectly coded/adapted but I've no idea where to go now.

Anybody know how to get me out of this pickle without throwing myself on the dealers

do you have a previous scan of the car, before you swapped the cluster, you must have saved a scan at some point, pull one up and cross reference the codings to what your getting now.

Unfortunately I didn't save a scan and I'm just recharging the laptop. I'll post the codes up when I can. I did reset the steering as per your thread, NHN about the 09 cluster swap but when I go into 17 and try the adaptation in block 37, that block is for brake wear indication.

I can't remember off hand but there were 3 faults within the abs unit

Once you get it back on line, post up the complete auto scan. I have had problems after replacing some 2009 1K ( VW ) clusters. Depending on the installed modules and actual fault codes, I may be able to advise.

The Engine fault is a seperate issue and has been ongoing for a while and the Door rear right fault has been there since I got the car!

The fault in the Auto trans will delete but comes back when started, but the faults in the ABS and AWD won't delete at all

Don't think I'll bother with the 09 cluster after all!!

Doesnt the ABS section re calibrate itself when driving a few miles?

Some do self calibrate but you may need to calibrate these mentioned options manually as per the 8P once you put a different cluster in, now if you just unplug yours & dont put a different cluster in & just plug yours back in, then the systems reset auto usually when driving a few miles with some turns, but different cluster causes errors that need manual reset

Give this a shot. It might not fix it, but cannot hurt at this point.

1) Recode the gateway to the same value. It will re-fresh the list, and I would just copy and paste to eliminate any possibility of error.

2) Recode the ABS module to the same value as well.

Dana, although it wont hurt I have to disagree with recoding overall, that link shows the manual calibrations I was mentioning, recoding the modules wont fix the issues here, you have to calibrate them full stop given the ecu/car overall sees a different cluster was fitted, you dont need to recode any module as the MK60 is the same unit used on the MK5 & the 8P as I mentioned earlier, its a calibration fix only afaik

Right I got it sorted this morning, no recoding neccesary. All I had to do was to go into the basic settings on the brake pressure sensor, Lateral accelaration sensor and the Longitudinal sensor and it automatically set everything up and cleared the fault codes!

Nice! I have had some nasty experiences with 2009 (1K) Jettas after replacing the instrument clusters. The ABS would not run basic settings tests and the Brake Pressure sensor fault, etc. wouldn't clear? After a several hour episode with the first car, the re-code of (19) and (03) enabled the Basic settings to run.

That said, Glad yours was a simple fix.
