Fault Code 01271 Audi S3 8L

Car is Audi S3 8L (2000 Vreg, APY)

I have this fault code appeared when scanning my car

01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
41-10 - Blocked or no voltage - Intermittent

Every so often when i start the car up i get the coolant temp warning flashing on my display. this then goes off and all is fine.
however, i have noticed that the temp guage takes a while to get to running temp (90degrees i think).

i have got this from the Ross-Tech web site but i am still unsure:

01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68): Faulty

• Wiring/Connectors from/to Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68) faulty
• Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68) blocked
• Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68) faulty

  • See Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
  • Perform Output Test
  • Perform Basic Setting
• Check/Repair Wiring and Connectors

Has anybody had this fault before? if so....how do i cure it? and where do i need to look to check the wires?

Do you think it has took longer for the temp to warm up since you have seen this code or has it alway's been like it? Think my s3 used to take about 10 mins to get up to 90.
Does your heater work on the car ok?
I'm wondering if the flap they are on about is in the heater unit?

the car has always done it.....never thought anything of it to be honest as it gets there eventually. the heaters start to warm up between about 5-10mins. but my aircon doesnt work (suspected pressure switch after investigation).

I have no idea which flap it could be.

any help is greatly appreciated

Have you heard of etka? Seen people mention it and they have got info from about things. Think it's like an on line haynes manual for audi's.
Might be worth having a look on there for said flap.

a guy at work had the same error...but on a golf

It turns out that it's a pig of a job to replace. His symptoms were that the speed of the air con would fluctuate wildly. But then again he has a Golf..
