Unable to log into the module (46) !!

Today I've been trying to activate the auto locking and lock/unlock beeps on my 2004 a3, However, I have been unable to log into the module (46) and hence make any adaptations.
the only modules i can access are 1 & 2 engine & gearbox

on my 99 golf i can access all the modules so it must be something to do with something

i feel spending more cash on something is gonna sort this out lol

Your 2004 A3 does the diagnostics on the CAN bus. Do you have a CAN compatible interface?

Uh Bruce, chat with Seb as I reported yesterday as did Stu of an issue with 46 & it would appear to be with older convenience modules fella, might not be related but damn coincidence I found & a friend who has same car as me & now this person who from all accounts looks like an 03-04 8P which has the same 8P0959433 convenience module

Fella can you login at all to 46 & is it just long coding you're having issues with? Whats your convenience part number at top?

uh yes if its a fake lead buy a proper one cause I personally wont help if its a copy, sorry but its a steal the authentic one for what you get & read above & please update thread with answers so we can get to bottom of this problem

Yes you need a genuine Hex-CAN or MicroCAN

I'm not sure it's a fake cable but just one of the old style ones with the limitation of v4.09. Often termed the dumb interface and not CAN capable.

IMHO if its not bought from ross-tech directly then I consider it fake, but thats just my thoughts, but as this is a global issue not just you but genuine users like myself & friends then I'm happy to be involved, but I suggest a genuine can based version as per Stu said & I have a group buy going, no its not a sales pitch as I make nothing on them honestly but just fedup with users of copied cables moaning about problems(present issue excluded possibly, but Stu knows my gripe) & they are usually down to the crap cable they got for a pound, lol, but lets see what Seb@ross come up with, I'm happy to help but I also respect Ross-tech for a fantastic tool for our cars that they spend serious time on providing & updates are free plus support is very good tbh & also free

Sorry I should also add that I don't think it's a genuine Ross-Tech cable, probably an eBay special used with the v4.09 I mentioned above - Is that right RGC?

Thanks for nothing, I did you a favour by mentioning to bruce already about my reported issues & I've already been in contact with Seb about this issue anyway as has Stu, so dont tell me I dont do nothing for you, if you as alot of others can afford a 10k car then you can afford a proper cable, same excuse I hear day in day our from everyone, fill up your tank for £50 a go but when it comes to a tool that is the best thing for your car you scrimp on crap cables then winge it doesnt work properly on here!!!

I help people that help themselves & I'm fedup with the same old tune, I'm trying to help you, so if you want my help fine, if not then good luck with fake cable, I'm doing these people a favour as I make feck all of the cables just trying to help people realise if they buy genuine they will have a lot easier life.

hmm,,, you seem clouded by your thoughts my friend,, if you look at my posts you can clearly see i am looking for a solution to my problem and not a cheep way around it, yes it looks to be a low budget cable and i know now i will need a more updated more capable one to access my A3 as it needs CAN thus i will be BUYING ONE!!!

will put the new cable on hold for a few month till i can save up a few quid, just forked out on a new set of face lift rear lights my other half will have a trip if i go dipping the pot again so soon lol

As I said above, either the MicroCAN or Hex + CAN will work with your car.

I can appreciate that funds are tight but perhaps I could offer a word of advice - Most UK authorised sellers still have stock purchased when the $/£ was better, when they have to re-order they are going to get a kick in the nuts so if you could afford it sooner you may well find yourself saving a packet.
