I serviced the A3 last weekend and I am having trouble reseting the service indicator. It was on the flexible service, first i used the process as outlined in the handbook (pulling out the button, etc etc) I now realise this was incorrect as it put the vehicle onto the fixed service.

I have tried using the SRI function in VCDS vagcom but had no joy. I get an error message saying "The specified values could not be saved on channel 43" its trying to change the value to 190 but is will not accept and stays at 186.

Any help would be appreciated

would it be correct that your ment to save each value in a certain order ie: 44 43 48 and so on.
something like that im sure,if there not done in the correct sequence then it doesnt accept it.
im sure i read this somewhere mate, worth looking into more maybe

thanks but ive tried that, the SRI function in vagcom goes through each channel and alters in order. I have also tried doing it manual as you mentioned.

I got this error the first time I did it on my brother's GTI. I had to go in and do each one manually. I did it on his mate's TT a few weeks later and again had to do it manually. I did it on the GTI again about three weeks ago and it did it automatically.

Not sure what changed - other than I was using the latest version of VCDS.

We did some modifications and optimizations, that is most likely what happened. However, if you are experience problems like that you may wanna give us a call or email us so we can check if we can reproduce and fix the problem... If nobody reports a problem its unlikely to get fixed...

Sorry to revive an old thread but I am having the same trouble.
Had my car serviced by a mechanic about month ago and he plugged his reset tool in but it messed something up.
The mileage reminder was counting down from 2000, but the day counter was right and started countil from 730.

Received my VCDS cable from NHN today, and so first thing I tried was to correct this. I am using version 805.4 from Ross-Tech website.

If I did SRI reset, but it failed on channels 42 and 43. Both channels were showing current value as 31. would not reset to 90 and 190 respectively.

I did it manually following the instructions of the channel order in VCDS and it still wouldn't go.

I have tried putting the Standard service values in each channel, and channels 42 and 43 accepted correct values for that. Which reset the service counter.

I have then tried going back to flexible, but now Channel 43 will not accept the 190 value it should be, it reverts to 186. It will accept any other figure but 190. The indicator has gone off but I suspect it will come back on as numbers aren't right.

Any ideas why, and how to correct it?
