wrong cable?

hi

ive recently bought a obd II cable of ebay to use with vag com on my 2002 225 audi s3, but i have just read in the FAQ area that hardly any cars outside of the USA work with this cable. Should it work with my car or am i screwed?

general odb2 cables will work but you need to use version 311 or 409

I use one on my 2001 A3. Its the new shape A3 it wont work on as it uses CAN diagnostics. and i belive the older cars use K-line diagnostics.
