As some of may be aware i have just had my airbag light reset after having people in back of the car. And again it has come on after having two people in back.

If i was to get a lead from ebay and the shareware software could i reset the DTC code myself to save a trip the garage every time this happens

i have a 2004 A3 (8P Chasis) but most of the leads ive looked at say they dont work with an 8P, any help would be great

this was the lead i looked at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=220196337543&Category=30921&_trksid=p3907.m29

That cable wont be any use for trying to communicate with the air-bag controller on an 8P. You need a CAN based lead. Buy the genuine article from Ross tech, or check out the VAG-COM users thread and find someone close to you who can reset it for you.

Could be worth fixing the problem so it doesnt come back again though? Sounds like a dodgy/loose wire under one of the front seats if it always happens after someone has been sitting in the rear of the car.

This one will though wont it?? Will try and remedy the problem, somehow first but if unsucessful then i would rather be able to reset it myself than pay a stealer price.

Thats not a genuine Ross-tech cable nor does the software it runs appear to be VAG-COM so I wouldnt like to comment on wether it will work or not.

You pays your money you takes your chances I guess. It wouldnt cost you anything to find a forum member who lives local to you to turn your light off for you though!
