    Wiper moter problems

Has anyone had any experience of the following fault codes on VAG-com. My wipers started acting up at the weekend...stopping and starting at will and moving very slowly at times.

I've had a bit look about and they seem to be working ok now but as I've not actually done anything I'm just waiting for them to pack in. Probably the next time we get some rain.

I cant find anything doing a search on here and the codes aren't listed on the ross tech wiki page so any clues would be appreciated.

Could be a problem with the wireing if the cable has worn and is earthing out on somthing as the wipers move accross this would cause the intermitancy. Other than that could be problems in the motor.
If you handy see if you can get the motor out and have a look
A4 Avant project now started ! see this thread ! http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a4-s4-forum-b5-chassis/43296-bit-project-going.html

Seats have a problem like this where the motor gets a build up of grease where the brushes make contact with the comutator inside. You can get into it and clean it up but it is a sealed unit so sealing it back up could be a problem. Might be worth having a look at it.

I have helped a mate with this before and we ended up with a new wiper motor. Its solved it now.

I agree with Markey. See if you can get the motor out and have a look at it.

Its looking like I'll have to take it out and have a look, not much room in there though. Was starting to wonder if it was the switch on the steering column, if I switch that on and off it would move a little each time...the same if I turned te inition off and on?????

For now it seems to be behaving but I've not got a great deal of faith that it will stay that way.

    Cheers for the advice guys

Well after a very frightening drive home in the rain on Monday night I decided to admit defeat and booked the car in to be fixed today.

The garage were convinced it was the motor but on speaking with Audi were told to recheck as it was a common fault for the wiper linkage to go. They rechecked and one new linkage later all is working fine.

Just thought it may be of use to someone in future to know this
