Stereo serial no?

Hey guys,

I have a 98 tdi and vag com works fine with it through dummy mode.

I need to get the serial no from my head unit as it is stuck in place.

How can I do this through vag-com I remember seeing it once, however no idea of which forum or thread!!

Newer head units show their serial number in measuring value block (MVB) 081, but your '98 is unlikely to support that while you would also need a full version of VAG-COM to access these higher MVB's.

I got full vag com, but not to worry the stereo was litterally ripped out earlier due to the months of hassle sorting this out.
