ECU information

Hi i have being using vagcom quite a while now and i am geting on well with it, its truly an awsome piece of software, my question is: i sometimes find fault codes which i dont know where they are dirrived from. i feel i would benifit from some sort of booklet etc that explaines how the ecu controls the engine, uses sensors etc so i could better understand why faults are caused and weather or not they cause engine lights coming on etc. Anyone got any information or can point me in the right direction.

If you really want to get a thorough understanding of engine management systems, you'll probably want to read some of the Bosch books like the following:
