temp gauge readings vag-com

Had my car on vag-com and when tempreature gauge on dash was reading 90 on vag -com check its showing 80 is this normal or does i need to change the thermostat?

A4 TDI 130 AWX ENGINE.............NEW COOLANT SENSOR FITTED.......IS IT TIME FOR A THERMOSTAT....????????

The gauge on the dash is not linear at all. Many years ago when it was, too many customers complained about the fluctuations they saw, so VW redesigned the gauges to point at 90C over a wide range of temperatures which are considered to be within the normal operating range.
