Enabling Alarm 'bleep' when unlocking/locking

When my car (A3 TDI/2000) was in at the dealer for a diagnostic the other day, I asked them to change the alarm set up so that that when the car is locked/unlocked it will bleep. The fitter said he couldn't do it as the program wouldn't allow the change.

Is he right or talking bollards? btw I've got an alarm siren unit as opposed to a horn-type.

Yes it can be done, do a search for a program called basecode
