Audi Q7 battery dies what do these fault codes mean?

If i start and drive the car lets say at 12pm and i leave it sitting for a good12-14 hrs the car will just about turn over and start, on tuesday i parked the car up and today(thursday morning) battery was flat...i had to get out the jump leads to start it.

Audi fitted a brandnew battery end of dec 2011

I hooked up vcds and deleated previous faults,then did a full scan..........this is what i got

I don't know if any help... but as you would have MMI 2G, there is a TPI / TSB which relates to updating MMI system firmware to stop battery drain...

one more thing,ive been messing with all the buttons in the car and mileage has changed from miles to km,how do i change it back?

No I did mine at home... I used a battery charger on the slave points under bonnet...

If you have bluetooth run disc 2 twice, so you would be doing disc 1 once, disc 2 twice, disc 3 once...

If you do not have bluetooth you would be doing disc 1 once, disc 3 once...

People have done it with the engine running but I'm not a fan of that as when flashing you really don't want voltage variance,etc...

Empty CD changer use slot one... the MMI FW update will only update what needs to be updated... ref the screenshots in the PDF above...

2G MMI HIGH v5570 update disk part no 4L0 998 961 is available on ebay but IIRC Audi dealer is cheaper (less than a £10)...

They can get iffy about supply but will sell them to you... MMI update can take upto an hour...

Early hardware versions of bluetooth modules can sometimes not like a flash update but other modules in your car may not as well...

Flashing is not risk free... make your own mind up and do what you wish...

Use google and search for mmi flashing failure or mmi update issue ... etc etc etc ...

Plenty info on web... try to use as least amount of electrical items in car when flashing, use a charger...

Switched off AC/blower... switch off interior lights, any "Auto" functions like coming/leaving home lights, etc,etc...

On my A6 I did lose "Battery Meter" & "Instrument Cluster" menus in "Car" menu but by VCDS you can re-enable those...

Just a thort,is it good to get my battery tested by car spares/auto shop.......audi fitted a new one in may 2011 and if im right all audi parts carry a 2 year warranty?..........maybe its just a battery issue?

One guy had an alternator changed, then battery then finally they did MMI update as neither the first two bits of work fix issue...

Dont know if ive done these right,id just started the car and it was at idle.........when i switched the car off
and with ignition on only the battery voltage started drop to 1185 but as i didnt want accidently kill the battery,i unplugged vcds.

Its not a volts/amps meter...

there and back,then scanned it,these are results.....battery state of charge
was 80% battery condition 100%

drove the car to work today,a stright road to work with a few stop/traffic,and 11 miles each way,i checked state of charge and it was 80% and battery condition was 100%........then i did a full scan and here are the results (tried to clear them they pop right back up)

I drove the car to work today,a stright road to work with a few stop/traffic,and 11 miles each way,i checked state of charge and it was 80% and battery condition was 100%........then i did a full scan and here are the results (tried to clear them they pop right back up)

You also have a AUX Heater... IIRC I've read some info within some A8 posts relating to draining with this, will dig it up...

Ive updated the mmi using 3 genuine audi cd's ,replaced battery and coded it,first few days (7 days) battery is still fully charged now after a couple of months sometimes it will still be fully charged after 4 or 5 days,i could go and check now and it could be fully charged(thats after the cars been sitting for 4 days) i could go to it tomorrow and it will show only 10% charge. i get a fault 01699 tailgate lock/hatch could this drain it?
it works ok just get the flickering when the tailgate opens.
Have i missed something? do i need to get rid of battery history or something?

Make sure that your car does not require a service action to change the software to tailgate.

I did use current clamps 50 amper {importent} and VAS 5052b .Maximum quiescent current consumption is 50 MiliAmper !!
You have to close the car and wait about 10 minutes.
Easier way is to read the history of the battery{vas5052b }

or use VCDS and see in these values

when you close the key remote control car, a few minutes later, when all the ECU are sleeping, quiescent current must not be more than 50 mili-amper.
Each power consumption over 50 miliamper will cause discharge of the battery.


check the battery history, the best vas 5052b.

i have only vcds (vag-com) so cannot check anything else,ive posted some pics regarding the audi portal,if you need more info let me know.

Ive been told ive done all the main things....ive updated mmi.......updated the nav disc,put in new battery and coded it.

Some say the auxilary heater drains the battery?...........any ideas where and which the fuse is so i can pull the fuse see if that stops battery draining.........unless you have any ideas?

Go into VCDS, press Applications, press Erase All DTCs.

Do a few ignition cycles and rescan.
